New York City

So it’s been a week since I came back from the amazing city of NYC my girlfriend booked us a surprise visit for our 1 year anniversary and the last time I was in this magnificent city was when the twin towers were still up and over looking the city. On our first day of arrival at Jfk airport I was shocked and pleasantly surprised at how fast they get you through immigration compared to the U.K we got chatting to a lovely couple in the queue who had been on our flight and were heading straight out to the port to go on an Oceania cruise up to Canada so took the chance to give her my business card and gave her some top cruising tips. As soon as you walk out of the air conditioned airport the humidity just hits you so instead of the monorail we took a yellow cab and got to go over the Brooklyn bridge to bring us into the city. She had booked us into a great hotel right by Grand central station and so we were able to get around this fantastic city not only on foot but by subway too which i strongly recommend you do as you can get anywhere in NYC and you meet some great characters from busy business men hurrying to get to there offices to buskers just trying to earn a dollar or too but everyone on there was so friendly.During our weeks stay we got to be proper Tourists and go and visit lots of places First on the agenda was the Staton Island Ferry this is a  ferry that takes you over to Staton island for free and goes past the Big lady herself the statue of Liberty and was so lovely to see her standing so grand and tall. We also went past NYC’S Cruise terminal and the lovely Celebrity Summit was in dock . We also took the chance  to go back to ground zero and see where these 2 incredible buildings once stood this was very humbling  and I found myself taking a minute and looking around at all the visitors who were there taking in all of the beautiful memorial that has been left in there place and it was a very quiet moving experience. We also got the subway down to Coney island which is so retro with all its 1950’s diners and oldie worldie feel to it was fantastic. You named it we saw it and got blisters on blisters but it was worth every one to spend our first anniversary in this iconic city . We were there for a week and still didnt get too do everything but we ticked off a big list that I had and too finish off our wonderful trip was taken to Tiffany’s and spoilt rotten an experience in itself and one I will always remember .
