Cruising down the Rhine

Have you ever been on a River Cruise ?

I was lucky enough to be picked to go on an amazing experience with APT River Cruises. Myself and 5 other agents were lucky enough to fly to Amsterdam and then get a coach to the small port in central Amsterdam where we saw the Marella Discovery 2 docked.

If you have never done a river cruise but really fancy it then don’t delay I have come back with all sorts of useful tips and recommendations. We have just spent 3 nights on board the stunning 5* Amavenita. We boarded the ship in Amsterdam and sailed overnight arriving into Cologne and then onto Bonn and finishing in Andernach. Where we were sent a private invitation to HRH Princess Heide Von Hohenzollern’s Castle Schloss Burg Namedy for a wonderful dinner and piano recital and I was fortunate to speak to her highness and commented on the beautiful wine she served us that evening. It is something I will never forget eating in her grand ballroom and the beautiful music a memory I will treasure forever. The next day we sailed through the Rhine Gorge which was simply breathtaking the castles and buildings we saw along the way were picture postcard perfection, the weather was lovely and they gave us fluffy blankets and prosecco, as we made our way up to Rudesheim where we were able to get off and do some shopping they had the most amazing traditional Christmas shop where all the staff were dressed in traditional clothing and played christmas music before heading back to Frankfurt for our flights home. This trip was incredible from start to finish a completely different concept to an ocean cruise but one that will always be remembered for all the right reasons. They offer many different river cruises all over the world so I would definitely check them out and you too could be sailing down the Rhine.
