Would you pay for the ‘ Key ‘ ?

I got asked about the ‘Key’ the other day and I had to look it up I hadn’t heard of this and I would say this has totally gone under the radar!!!

What did I find out ?

The key programme is offered by Royal Caribbean on selected ships at a cost and it gets you exclusive and special amenities.

These include the following ;

Priority check-in and boarding
Exclusive carry-on luggage service with stateroom delivery
Private lunch at Chops Grille®, Jamie’s Italian, or Giovanni’s Table on embarkation day
Private hours on activities like FlowRider, Rock Climbing wall, Ripcord by iFly.
Priority port of call debarkation
VIP seating area at Main theater, Aqua Theater, Studio B, and Two70 shows
VOOM ® Surf & Stream
Choice debarkation with an exclusive a la carte breakfast.

Obviously, it isn’t free it comes at a daily cost, prices start at $24.99 per guest per day but can vary between ships. If you purchase this it will show on your SeaPass card, it will have an icon confirming your purchase of The Key. You have to add it on to your cruise personaliser before you travel and every passenger over 6 has to pay for it.

Is it worth it ?
Looking at the benefits and costs I would say if you were already going to purchase an unlimited internet package, the cost of a one device, unlimited Surf and Stream Voom package will usually cost around $13.99 per day so you would pay a little more to get the added extra benefits.

The Priority embarkation & disembarkation is a great added extra and one I have enjoyed on a couple of cruises, especially if you have to tender.

The private hours on activities can definitely come in handy and save so much time also allowing you to really maximise the time on your cruise.

The biggest questions is, is it worth it to you ? The same as drinks packages you need to sit down and work out if it will benefit you and at what cost.
I think this will have a very mixed response.

Is this something you would consider ?

Have you used the ‘Key ‘ on your cruise let me know what you thought.
