My time on MSC Preziosa

On 25th September I went on MSC Preziosa for 7 nights.  We had a group of over 200 passengers on board that were then doing Lake Garda & Venice after the cruise.  Unfortunately, we weren’t going with them on this part of the trip.

I travelled down to Southampton on the train from Coventry which was great as it’s a direct service, jumped in a cab and headed to the port to meet my colleague Zoe.

Check-in was very smooth and we were on board in no time.  The cabins weren’t ready yet but that was OK, we had a quick look around and headed to the bar for a welcome drink.  The cabins became available about 3 pm and our cases were there also.

The ship holds 3502 passengers in 1751 cabins, max speed 24 knots, 139,072 tonnes, approx 1388 staff on board.

She is a beautiful ship and the cabin was very spacious, clean & comfortable – I had no complaints about anything on this ship.

The main staircase in the atrium is made with Swarovski crystals and is just stunning, so many people having their picture taken here.

There are numerous bars to have a drink in the evening, most with some entertainment in the form of a band or singers or a pianist to listen to.
We did go to the theatre a couple of times but wasn’t my cup of tea, some of the shows were fabulous as we spoke to lots of people on the ship throughout the week.

We were in a Bella Balcony on deck 8, partially obstructed as there are lifeboats outside but not up against the glass as the deck below is promenade deck, here is a video so you can see what I mean:-

It was absolutely fine as we could still sit out and relax, just couldn’t see much when in port but not an issue for us.  If you want to be higher up and have a clear view then you need to book the Fantastica Balcony as a better location.

We sailed that evening at 7 pm and our 1st day was at sea. This was our itinerary:-

Wed 25/9/2019 Southampton, United Kingdom 19:00
Thu 26/9/2019 Day at sea
Fri 27/9/2019 Vigo, Spain 11:00 18:00
Sat 28/9/2019 Lisbon, Portugal 09:00 16:00
Sun 29/9/2019 Day at sea
Mon 30/9/2019 Barcelona, Spain 13:00 19:00
Tue 1/10/2019 Marseille, France 09:00 18:00
Wed 2/10/2019 Genoa, Italy 09:00

The muster drill was at 5pm and I must admit I’ve not seen a life jacket like this one, one of the straps goes between your legs – we called it a Sumo Wrestler one.

We were on 2nd sitting for dinner and sat with a couple from our group Val & Graham, they were such a lovely couple and we had great fun every night with them.

The shows are on twice in the evening, once at 7.15 pm for the late dining so you go before dinner and again at 9 pm for 1st dining to go after dinner.  So everyone can get to see them if you wish. The theatre was fabulous, so big and spacious & modern.

I will cover more on the bars, restaurants etc on my next blog.
