Luxury Ships for MSC

MSC is one of the fasting growing companies in the cruise world and there is no stopping them. Since June last year the fleet has welcomed Meraviglia, the first of the Meraviglia Class ships , Seaside the first of the Seaside Class Ships and this year we have seen the second Seaside Class with Seaview. In March 2019 we will see the launch of the 2nd  Meraviglia  Class with Bellissima being christened in Southampton before her Maiden Voyage. and the first Meraviglia Plus Class will be launched in 2019 with Grandiosa closely followed in 2020 with Virtuosa.

If these classes aren’t enough MSC will also have MSC World Class Ships launching in 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026. All of these ships are 5000-6000 capacity but its is not only the large ships that will be making an apperance as it has now been announced that they will be building 4 ultra-luxury ships in Fincantieri which will only carry 1000 passengers. These will enter service in 2023,2024 2025 and 2026. Pierfrancesco Vago, MSC Cruises’ Executive Chairman, said: “It is off the back of the great success of our ship-within-a-ship luxury concept that our guests asked us to enter into the ultra-luxury segment, as a natural evolution of the MSC Yacht Club. These ships will be able to offer unique itineraries, thanks to their size, and the guest services will be taken to another level, including our personalized MSC Yacht Club butler service, available 24/7.” I wonder if these will rival the likes of the other luxury ships like Silverseas?

By 2027 MSC will have 25 megaships in service which is 15 up on what they have at the moment and with the 4 luxury ships the fleet will be 29 by 2027. This in total means they will have 98,000 berths to fill but the question has to be asked as whether they will have any single cabins onboard or will they sell more of the cabins for sole occupancy. There is definately a need for this with more and more people travelling alone and who are always looking for a competitive price. Maybe they should follow in the steps of NCL who have a large number of Studio Cabins for single cruisers on there newer ships. What do you think?

I loved my time on Meraviglia last year and would love to try another one of their ships very soon. They are great value for money and with a drinks package that is half the cost of the packages on other cruiselines what isnt there to like! Heres a few pictures of my time onboard.
