Lovely Weekend in York

I have just returned from a lovely weekend in York with my husband and 4 friends. This is something we do every year  and normally got to Center Parcs but decided on a change. We rented a  3 bedroom Victorian house about 15 minutes walk from the centre and after a 4+ hour journey thats should have taken 2 hours (Friday Evening Traffic) we were not dissapointed when we arrived.

The house was huge and was spread over 4 floors and plenty of room for us all.

The plan had been to do some Christmas shopping while we were there, but as usual at this time of year there were queues everywhere. We had a look araound the Chritmas Markets and thats about as far as the shopping went and we headed to the pub instead.

One of my favorite bars in York is The Botanist which sells great cocktails and are  different from your normal cocktails and are served in Tea Pot’s and Plant Pots amongst other things that are not your convensional glasses! You can also do a masterclass for £25.00 which includes making 3 cocktails and 3 different classes to choose from. For Gin lovers there is also a Gin Masterclass  and for the men there is an Ale Tasting Masterclass.  There is also a restaurant too which we booked for the Sunday night and the food was really good. As one of my friends is a massive Gin fan we also paid a visit to the “Evil Eye” bar which has a Gin shop at the front that sells a huge selection of Gins and also serves a huge collection of Cocktails. My favorite was one thats tasted like Lemon Curd Jam!

For the 3 nights we were there we just stayed in and made the most of the lovely house and played games and chilled in our PJ’s. Just what the doctor ordered.

This weekend though may be a different story as it is the annual Cruise.co.uk conference. I will be staying in Bristol on Saturday night ready to embark Marco Polo on Sunday morning for a 3 night cruise to Dublin. Ill be telling you all about that later! Well maybe not everything!
