Christmas Conference 2018

I have just returned from the Cruise.co.uk Christmas Conference on a 3 night Cruise to Dublin. This is something I look forward to every year as we get to meet up with our work colleagues that we don’t see very often, with us being home workers. This year we were on the Marco Polo which sailed out of Avonmouth on 16th December.

My colleague Ruth and I had a Premium Twin Ocean View Cabin on Deck 7 which had 2 Picture windows. The cabin was comfortable and clean and had plenty of storage space with a triple wardobe, 2 chest of drawers under the dressing table area, and 2 bed side cabinets. The bathroom was small but that wasnt really an issue as you dont spend any time in there. My only complaint about the bathroom was it had the dreaded shower curtain! Anyone who knows me knows I have a thing about wet shower curtains sticking to me!. I think they should be banned and all ships should have proper glass enclosures!

The ship departed just after mid day and it wasnt long before we found out that it was going to be quite a rough crossing. Fortunately for me I have good sea legs but I couldnt say the same for Ruth. She didnt even make dinner on the first night. She wasnt the only one that felt bad which was a real shame as the first night we all were dressed in Fancy Dress, much to the amusement of the other passengers onboard.

The next day everyone was Ok as the ship was docked in Dublin where it stayed overnight. After the conference presentations the company had organised for us to have our own private Party in  Bad Bob’s Bar in the City. We all made our way there after 5pm and enjoyed a great night which didn’t see many of us returning to the ship much before 2.30am in the morning.

The ship sailed from Dublin at 11am that morning and again we experienced some really rough sea conditions. This was so bad that some of the staff didnt even make it through the presentations and had to go to bed mid afternon. I have to say the dining room was practically empty that night for dinner, but when the Captain announces that people should refrain from wearing high heeled shoes you know you are in trouble!

Bad Sea conditions aside we all hadan amazing time and as usual Vicki Morrison, one of our Sales Team Managers did a great job organising everything for us.

On that note I’d like to wish all my colleagues, customers and friends and familys a great Christmas and a Prosperous New Year

I ill be back next time to tell you about my New Year Cruise to Hamburg on 29th December

As Shakin Stevins would say “Merry Christmas Everyone”
