Bringing a little Magic to Liverpool
Could this be the first time Disney’s mighty Queen Elsa takes on Liverpool legend John Lennon? Disney will be dusting a little of its magic in the city as it arrives in Liverpool this summer.
I am pleased to see that we will still have the chance to do this next year, so don’t think you have missed out. I have listed 2017 itineraries below so if interested let me know.
The 2,700 berth luxury liner sailed into the River Mersey. This may not be anything new as Liverpool welcomes some of the world’s most luxurious cruise liners each summer. Yet this one is a first, the Disney Cruise Liner is stopping off at just two English destinations, and one of them is Liverpool.
Disney Magic is coming to Liverpool twice; 27 May and 12 June. Before now, the Disney cruise liners have been focused on Florida and the Caribbean. Yet working with Scotland and Ireland, Liverpool’s Cruise terminal has convinced Disney to come to Britain.
Disney itself sells the city as being known for its “historic sites, celebrated architecture, fabulous food and rock and roll!” The guide for its 2,700 passengers suggests visitors explore the “World Capital of Pop” and the world famous home of the Beatles. Museums, galleries and the city’s UNESCO world heritage site along the waterfront are also major draws. Shopping at Liverpool ONE, the World Museum and the Magical Mystery Tour are all pointed out to passengers as ‘must see’ things to do while they’re in the city.
But what about those watching shore side? The Liner itself will be a spectacular site as it sails along the Mersey and docks alongside the Three Graces. Disney Magic boasts 11 decks, is 984 feet in length and is 106 feet wide.
The magic of Disney isn’t simply for those on board. As well as capturing images of the cruise liner along the waterfront, following the route of the passengers through the city is an ideal way to sprinkle a weekend with a little Liverpool magic.
And who could disagree with Disney. They say that the cruise liner docked at the Pier Head won’t be the only perfect picture moment, Liverpool boasts stunning architecture and beautiful historic buildings.
