My six star experience with Regent……….

I have been well and truly spoilt this week by spending a few days onboard the Regent Seven Seas Voyager.

I had been offered a place onboard with other agents to sample the six star cruise and find out what its like to be a luxury passenger. I had high expectations and I wasn’t disappointed.

We joined the ship in Naples and after checking in we went straight to our balcony suite on deck six. The room was so spacious and felt so much larger then your normal standard balcony. The rooms have their own separate walk-in wardrobes so plenty of storage space, The bathroom which is all marble had a bath and a shower and lots of space and lovely toiletries provided L’occitane soaps and lotions.

As soon as I dumped my case I was very keen to go off and explore and see what the ship was like. The décor is very sophisticated, and all light neutral tones and she is fresh from a complete refurbishment.

Regent pride themselves on staff to passenger ratio and only holding half the passengers that the ship could actually hold.

The thing that I was looking forward to the most was the dining experience as I knew that it would be very special. The Seven Seas Voyager has four dining options and I ,  of course sampled all of them, all in the name of work obviously !!

The compass Rose is the flagship restaurant and you can dine in here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I loved the décor and lighting in here it was so fresh and very modern with a very elegant feel. The menus are huge and have so much choice on there that you can feel a bit spoilt for choice. I had the King prawns and scallops in here and they were cooked perfectly and along with the sides and drinks served I came out of here feeling very happy…and Full!!

After dinner we went to the theatre and on this particular evening they had a singer onboard . She had an amazing voice and it was a lovely end to the evening.

The other two nights we dined in the two specialty restaurants which were the Prime 7 and Chartreuse. Prime 7 is the Steakhouse and if you’re a lover of Steak then you will have the best you’ve ever tasted in here. I opted for the surf and turf which came with a 6oz fillet mignon and a lobster tail. I also had truffle fries and a peppercorn sauce. The service was amazing in here

and nothing was to much trouble.

I would say that this is the case with all the staff onboard with Regent whatever you want or need they are there to make sure you have it. Your drink is never left empty and every person you walk past is so friendly and helpful.

The Chartreuse is the modern French restaurant and had a very regal feel to it. We had a lovely table with ocean views and I really liked the feel and ambience in there. I opted for a beetroot salad with goats’ cheese which is honesty the best starter I have ever had and then I had scallops with butternut squash spaghetti and chorizo again so nice and full of favour and quality of a fine dining restaurant.

The buffet style restaurant on the  Seven Seas Voyager is the La Veranda and you can have breakfast or lunch in here and I enjoyed dining in here because it had some amazing little prawn wraps and the puddings were little drops of heaven. The choice is so varied, and I must recommend the salmon wellington and the fresh prawns in here were to die for.

A very good alternative for lunch is the pool grill and you have the typical burgers , sandwiches and hot dogs here but on one of the afternoons they also did a Mexican theme and offered some lovely tacos and fajitas.

I know I am going into great detail about the food but I really feel that the fine dining with regent along with all the inclusive things that are included really make Regent the best luxury experience that you can get.

When people here six star they automatically presume that it will be way out of price range . Initially yes, the prices are higher and can seem out of budget, but when you compare booking a suite onboard a standard cruise line then adding on all the extras that Regent include, Regent actually work out cheaper. Once you experience the quality and service you wont want to book anyone else.

Regent clients get a bottle each of their favourite spirit in their cabins along with a fully stocked mini bar. Its all inclusive on the ship and your favourite cocktails or fine wine is always there when you fancy a tipple. The speciality dining is included and all excursions are also included so if you step onboard and don’t spend a penny then you really don’t have to.

One of the ports that we sailed into was Kotor Montenegro but I am going to do another blog about that and go into more detail so look out for that one.

My one big surprise of the ship was the evening entertainment onboard. I expected after dinner for the entertainment and lounges to very quiet, but we went to the Voyager lounge most evenings and it was usually quite busy with a great fun atmosphere.

They did Karaoke one evening which although not for everyone it provided a good laugh and everyone in the lounge enjoyed themselves. It turns into a nightclub as well if you fancy dancing the night away and you can also go up and add your favourite songs to the playlist to personalise the experience. Another one of my favourites was the observation lounge on deck 11. It was more relaxing and quieter in here but facing on the forward the views in here were spectacular.

All in all to sum up my regent experience I can honestly say that it has been one of the best ships I have ever been on and would hugely recommend a cruise with Regent. If you have booked a suite on celebrity before or a Grille with Cunard and are looking for something different then please consider regent because it really is the most inclusive luxury experience you will ever have.
