New starts, new adventures

Hi all

What makes us do something new, rather than stick to the same old tried and tested formula?

This can apply to anything in life, new house, new job, even a different type of holiday. There are always new things to do, food to try and people to meet.

Recently my holiday experiences have had to be a bit more sedate instead of tearing around new cities at break neck speed, I have to take my time and make sure to do things my son enjoys. This in some way has meant I’ve had to restrain myself on occasion but when you have a family this is what happens! Due to this I’ve found new experiences that I probably wouldn’t have done before.  Going to a kids Lego building centre in Christchurch when I was in New Zealand last year (I have to admit I enjoyed this more than my son) Or an absolutely bizarre kids haunted maze on Jersey at Halloween, best not ask….

Anyway the same surely applies to cruises. Why not challenge yourself and try something different or change things up slightly the next time you go away?

A different part of the world, a different cruise line, getting off the ship and doing a different type of shore excursion, all of these are possibilities. Maybe stay a few extra days in the city the cruise starts in and get out and explore it properly.

To add to my experience of cruise ships I am going to make a concerted effort to see some new ships I haven’t seen yet this year in Southampton. My travel plan is to do a Greek island/Adriatic cruise as this is something that appeals to my wife who is a bit of ancient Greek history buff and surely that is the best way to see the Greek islands?

We are well into the new year now and getting towards the med season for the spring and summer so what would you like to do this year?

The world is full of possibilities and different experiences, I certainly do ponder…..
