Marella is one of cruises best kept secrets…. How do I know…. I worked for them…

Ask anyone who has been on a Thomson cruise or a Marella sailing what what they thought of the ships, the entertainment, the food and the facilities on board and they will let you know what a fabulous time they had.  They probably won’t get their pen out or get on a computer and start typing a review. They probably won’t tell their next door neighbour even,  what a great time they’ve had. So Marella cruises still remains one of the best kept secrets at sea. I worked on Thomson Spirit and Thomson Dream for two years and during that time there were regulars that I came to know and became friends with, who I stay in touch with to this day.  They would sometimes leave the ship for a week and then be back for another two weeks to enjoy another sailing with all inclusive drinks.

This year Marella have won the wave awards for best entertainment at sea.  They remain the UK’s easiest cruise line for fly cruising, due to the number of departure airports they offer including Scotland.  Their ships over the past couple of years have come up in the world with the addition of Discovery, Discovery II, Explorer and then next year Explorer II. From November 2018 they have a ship based out of either Langkawi or Laem Chabang for Far East sailings which is new for Marella. They continue to offer exceptional value for money with their Caribbean sailings and winter 2018 you can choose from three different ships sailing out from either Barbados or Jamaica.

The crew on Marella ships remain some of the friendliest at sea and this stems from the officers and the way that they work with their crew on board.

I find myself getting quite upset with people who feel that they know everything about cruising and yet as soon as you mention travelling with Marella or Thompson or any of the TUI branded products.  The response is, ‘I couldn’t possibly do that’. Even though they offer, the airport of choice, all-inclusive drinks, tips are included in the cost of the holiday and generally speaking they are less than any other mainstream Cruise Line. What I think they also offer extra is extremely hardworking entertainers who multi task throughout the ship.
