Seabourn cruise lines has announced the signing of a contract with Italian Shipbuilders Fincantieri to build its new Ultra-luxury all-suite vessel as part of its fleet modernisation program.
This is just the next link in what has been a long standing relationship between Seabourn’s parent company Carnival Plc and the Italian company.
The new ship which is expected to be delivered in 2016 will be based on the already hugely popular Odyssey class and will be a 40,350 GRT vessel, with the addition of an extra deck and more spacious public areas.
This class of ship, which currently includes the Seabourn Sojourn and Seabourn Quest, has won acclaim from its luxury clientele, the travel industry, travel writers and cruise critics around the world.
It is expected that the ship will carry around 604 guests, based on double occupancy of the all-suite lower berths.
“The new ship will continue the evolution that began with Seabourn’s fleet expansion, adding modern design elements and innovations consistent with Seabourn’s reputation for understated elegance,” said Richard Meadows, Seabourn president.
The new ship like all of Seabourn’s fleet will maintain the high ratio of space per guest almost one staff member to one guest on-board, enabling an extraordinary level of highly personalised service to be delivered
In addition, every suite will feature a private veranda. This will mean that Seabourn will not only have a new ship but the newest fleet of ships in the Luxury market to date.
Over the next 2 years Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Spirit, and Seabourn Legend are transferring to new owners, so Seabourn is looking to maintain its market share with the introduction of the new liner.
