ITV really push the boat out!

Well after much anticipation I sat down on Saturday evening  to watch Saturday Night Take Away all the way from Barcelona on board P&O’s Britannia. Last week I wondered how the show was going to go, would ITV showcase Britannia in the right way? Well the answer was a very big YES from me.

I watched full of excitement and I have to say jealousy that I wasn’t on board, you could feel the excitement from all the passengers around the ship and from Ant & Dec who were so obviously excited to be on board. They shared snippets of information about Britannia… a ship longer than the Eiffel Tower, that there had been a huge 7000 gin and tonics served on board this week, that there were around 4000 passengers on board. Of course as a cruise expert and being on the ship myself only last year I was full of facts and figures that I shared with my other half all the way through the show!

So how did Britannia look, well from the first full shots of her colourful livery she looked amazing docked in Barcelona. Britannia looked classy and elegant, not to mention magical.

As the show got underway we at home got a chance to have a look at some of the public areas on board….Headliners Theatre, the Live Lounge, the beautiful Atrium, the Pool Deck, the Spa, Brodie’s bar. She was shown off at her best, fantastic for P&O and I have to say yesterday I spoke to quite a few customers who were very interested in Britannia and really enjoyed the show. As it got darker in Barcelona  the ship looked even more amazing, really showing off the pool deck all lit up and adding to the magic of the whole evening.

The show didn’t disappoint with their promise of celebrities on board to join the live show…..Peter Andre made an appearance singing one of his favourites Mysterious Girl,  plus Ashley Roberts, Stacey Soloman, Katherine Jenkins, James Nesbitt, Jonathan Wilkes and Stephen Mulhern! Of course not forgetting little Ant & Dec. Star studded to say the least!  The captain, Paul Brown, also made an appearance during the show.

The prizes up for grabs were the best ever on one of their shows…..for the game Win the Ads the prizes were worth a huge £63,000!  I felt so sorry for the man who played and lost!!….he lost the car and prize money and I did say I hope it’s not going to spoil the rest of his cruise!

With a full ship of passengers and crew, there was such a buzz around the ship and what an amazing experience to be part of….the very first tv show to air live from  a cruise ship!

I have a feeling after such a successful show there maybe more to come, and who knows it might not just be P&O, the other cruise lines may just jump on board!

Did you watch the show? Did you enjoy it and did it leave you wanting to get straight on board on Britannia? I know I did and it reminded me of how lucky I am to be part of such an amazing industry that just keeps getting better and better.

thanks for reading, Abbi x
