Action on board Anthem of the Seas..so what’s it all about?

With Anthem of the Seas due to go on sale in just under a week just I’ve been caught up in the excitement and the buzz of this fabulous new ship. Royal Caribbean’s largest ship so far to make Southampton her home port…Anthem will be sailing from the UK in 2015.

Anthem of the Seas is set to replace Independence of the Seas next year….boasting some of the most amazing innovative features at sea. My last cruise with Royal Caribbean was on board the Independence of the Seas, usually I like to enjoy my cruise relaxing doing as little as possible,  however after a little persuasion I found myself half way up the rock climbing wall and trying out my ice skating skills. I even made it onto the flow rider…although not as easy as it looks!  I really loved getting involved with all the activities, so much so I surprised myself. Sometimes it’s trying something new that makes your cruise extra special.

Now I know action packed cruises are not for everyone…but trying something new and exciting, doing something that you wouldn’t usually do just adds to making your cruise an unforgettable holiday you can’t wait to do all over again. So what does Anthem of the Seas have to offer.

RIPCORD…ever tried sky diving or ever wanted to well here is your chance to feel like you’re flying in the sky-diving simulator. It will be a 23 foot enclosed case giving you the feeling of having jumped out of a plane. You won’t find anything like this with any other cruise line and who would ever have imagined you could experience sky diving whilst on a cruise ship. I would love to give this a try, I’ve always wanted to do a real sky dive and never been brave enough so this would give me a taste to see if I could do the real thing.

NORTH STAR…I’m sure you have seen the photos of the viewing pod known as the North Star.  You step into the capsule and are lifted 300 ft above sea level!  Now you will have to have a head for heights but imagine the views from all the way up there. I was only on the Manchester big wheel last weekend and absolutely loved the views of the city, imagine being out at sea viewing some of the best destinations in the Mediterranean next summer.

SEAPLEX…this is the largest indoor active space at sea and including the first ever dodgem cars at sea! The kids will love this and of the course the big kids amongst us too!. Not only can you try the bumper cars, you can have a go at the roller skating, take part in the circus school or have a game of basketball on the full size court. I’m sure whilst you’re enjoying all Seaplex has to offer it will be hard to imagine you are on board a cruise ship at sea!

TWO 70°….this will be a new multi-level venue featuring the “Cafe” with 270 degree views of the sea which whether it be day and night will be a fantastic feature on board. During the day you will be able to enjoy casual dining , you will be able to visit the workshops and there will also be guest lecturers, demos, and arts and crafts activities.  By night there will be live performers…including aerial acrobats, DJs and also themed nights. Technology in here will be state of the art from the 100 inch LED TV screens to the amazing light shows. This venue will come alive at night, with fabulous entertainment.  Not to forget the ice bar where you can enjoy a cocktail or two…another first for Royal Caribbean.

And as if all this wasn’t enough don’t forget all the favourites we know and love Royal Caribbean for already…there will be Rock Climbing, the Flow Rider, the Vitality Spa..the list goes on.

So what do you think?  I for one think it all sounds amazing, so new and exciting and to think you can experience all of this on our doorstep with Anthem due to sail from Southampton. Are you going to be one of the first passengers to experience all of these firsts at sea next summer on board the Anthem?  As always would love to hear your thoughts.
