Have just returned from the most fantastic cruise on Legend of the Seas to the Southern Caribbean. We had read all the bad reviews, and was prepared to make the best of it whatever, but we had the time of our lives. The ship was beautiful, the food superb, the staff were happy, really helpful and could not do enough for us (not just going about their jobs) Our cabin was always cleaned thoroughly, there was more than enough storage space and there were toiletries if needed. I can only assume the people who had a nightmare experience were just unlucky in their week, as we had no problems at all. The swimming with turtles trip in Barbados was something I will never forget. I only wish we had booked for 2 weeks! the entertainment was, I admit a bit lacking, apart from the Original Drifters and 'Elton John'. The singers and dancers were quite bad, I have seen better on a P & O mini cruise, but we enjoyed it all anyway. The only thing that I didn't really agree with is the tipping situation. I like to give tips at my discretion, not be press ganged into it with envelopes to be handed out at dinner (embarassing) but obviously this is the American way, and we went along with it. All in all a fantastic experience and wonderful holiday. Our only problem was that we gained weight!!

No she isn't - this lady had a wonderful trip: http://www.travbuddy.com/PhinsAndGills And the last 4 reviews gave her 4 stars and above.....If you go with such a negative attitude you will only find fault with everything. So relax and be happy that you are going on holiday....

Can I please just say that I have read the reviews for Legend on here, and yes it is a shame that the hispanics are running amok and possibly ruining it for other people, however they are entitled to cruise just like any other person from any other country. The fact that this cruise ship sails from Santo Domingo kinda means that you might get plenty of people on this cruise who live in the surrounding area, likewise with sailings from Southampton, where lots of british people are going to sail from. You are sailing with an american cruise company, sailing in american waters, so nobody really has the right to complain just because there are a lot of hispanics on board. The ship itself has had lovely reviews, and thats a positive. Go with an open mind, expect great company and facilities, wonderful ports of call and weather, just enjoy yourself.

It is very very noticible that there are very few comments - let alone complaints - posted over on cruisecritic - and believe me - if anyone is going to complain about anything and throw teddy out of the pram it will be the Americans - therefore I tend to suspect that the British are being a tad racist about the presence of the local Hispanic and things are not as bad as some want us to believe. As Mr Shaw says the last 4 reviews on cruisecritic give her 4* and above. Hear hear to Mr Marsden for their comments.

Parsons - Answered a Question by cope (09 Feb 08 09:12)

Perhaps the complainers would prefer to sail from Southampton and have football supporters in England shirts or chavs in shell suits running amok on the ship, but of course Englsih people dont behave badly do they!

What a mixed bag....I tend to go along with the very knowledgeable Aldrich, Shaw and, to me, a newcomer, Parsons. All nationalities have there own way of enjoying themselves, the Japanese are demure, the Italians noisy and the Spanish robust. if any one nationality is in the majority then things will be swayed in their direction and probably rightly so. So enjoy the mix, try to see why they are enjoying themselves so much and go with the flow. But then I find the Germans great company !!!!!!!….Nei.

Comment to Parsons. I sailed on Legend ex S/hampton and I did NOT see any of the like he describes. Perhaps Mr Parsons is one of the gang.

Would aldrich, downs, shaw and parsons who have answered this question advise whether they have actually been on this cruise themselves as to give an opinion. I go by the opinions of the people who have actually been. Please see latest review which has got two stars because of the behaviour of the local people.

I think what parsons meant was " what is the difference", I dont think he/she meant that there would necessarily be chavs or football shirts, just that certain English people are just as badly behaved as other nations. I am sailing on this ship in March and I too hope it wont be full of rough people, but surely there will be only a small proportion of idiots just as there are everywhere else.

For those of you that know, I was on board the beautiful, elongated Silver Spirit in Belfast.I will keep my words to a minimum and let you watch the video, should you wish, but, needless to say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment we walked on to the moment we left, it was just, bliss. The fact she was in such an iconic port of call helped, bathed in sunshine, you would think we were in St Tropez or suchlike. The key thing for me, understated elegance and class. It wasn’t qui...

My Azamazing Journey Part 2

By Camilla Edwards

Camilla Edwards's blog

If you have read my last blog you will now that my journey began in Nice beforeembarking on the lovely Azamara Quest. It was a brilliant start to my trip with probably the easiest check-in, with a glass of prosecco in hand, I`ve ever experienced. After this, it’s definitely small ship cruising for me!So what is she like? I had a conversation with one of my clients last week about Azamara and he said he thought the ships would be too formal and posh for him. How wrong could he be?The s...
