Ida and Neil Down - Answered a Question by Rogers (28 Jan 08 19:36)

Either I have missed a piece of highly relevant information in which case someone is sure to enlighten me or the Concierge (conciage) you refer to is a club room which is available to Crown & Anchor who hold a platinum status. Celebrity have a Concierge Cabin level and there you are given various upgraded facilities and pay extra for the privilege. Like I say maybe I missed something and if so I would be very grateful if someone would update me….Neil.

Marsden - Answered a Question by Rogers (01 Feb 08 10:09)

Yes, the amenities which Ross highlights are available in Concierge Lounge. The Concierge Lounge is available on ALL ships within the RCCL brand except Empress, Grandeur, Majesty, Monarch, Rhapsody, Sovereign and Vision. The concierge lounge is ONLY available to guests staying in a Grand Suite or higher AND also to Diamond and Diamond Plus Crown & Anchor members, irrepsective of what stateroom they stay in. The lounge is accesssible 24 hours a day via a special access key given to each guest. The Concierge is only available at certain times throughout the day (this is the member of staff who can attend to you). Guests under 21 are not allowed in the concierge lounge between 5-8:30pm due to the complimentary bar. On some occasions when there is over crowding as 2nd lounge might be opened. There are NO concierge lounges on Celebrity, Azamara and Xpedition. On Celebrity, there is something called Concierge Class staterooms. These are balcony rooms which offer an enhanced service which includes: priority embarkations and disembarkation, welcome champagne, fresh fruits and flowers, expanded room service breakfast menu, evening hors d'oeuvres, personalised stationary, pillow menu and golf umbrella and binocular use. there is no concierge lounge for celebrity, and there are no Concierge Class Staterooms on RCCL, Azamara and Xpedition. Hope that helps clear up confusion.

Viking Ocean Cruises have an exciting new feature on their newest ship OrionThis will be the first of their ships to feature a planetarium although not the first in the cruise industry. However it is the most advanced on a cruise liner. The dome will be located in the Explorers lounge but has not taken up any seating space and has been fully sound checked to make sure it doesnt disturb any guests using the lounges. The dome will feature laser-beam projectors, studio speakers and 2D & 3D opt...

As most of my readers and customers will be aware of by now, I became a dad in August last year, and in the last couple of weeks, having had almost a year off work on maternity leave, my wife has gone back to work.As she works in education, her hours are none negotiable, Monday to Friday daytime, usually finishing around 5pm ish. Now, before we had the baby, I had literally no idea the crazy cost of child care! Roughly 50 per day! OUCH!So in an effort to reduce the cost of this down, whilst bo...

The season of the mini cruise.

By Warwick Van Reenen

Warwick Van Reenen's blog

My first cruise was a mini cruise on the new Independence of the Seas in 2009. Well, she was new then! It was during a May bank holiday weekend and a 4 night to Cork and back.It was bank holiday weekend and the ship was filled to capacity. The volume of luggage being manhandled on board the vast family-friendly superliner at Southampton might have suggested we were all embarking on a world circumnavigation rather than a short sailing and this is another bonus of a cruise out of Southampton is...
