I went on the same cruise and my son who is 8 hated the trips yet my daughter almost 12 liked them. I think it's a boy thing personally but he found the guided tours the worst as he hated 'hanging around' as he called it. They are very expensive mind you so try to go it alone when you can.

We are just back-2 daughters 12-15- They are expensive and you can, with a little planning, do them yourself. This cruise is a butlins-pontins holiday camp-If you have cruised before you may be dissapointed-lots of smoking areas and entertainment is poor. Your'e child will be okay if you can get them into the club early to meet new friends-otherwise- you are going to get what you pay for- regards - a seasoned cruise.

11 year old kids can do their own tours on OV2. St Raphael Water park, Barcelone FC, Naples climb Mt Vesuvius plus one other I cannot recall at present! Best to do your own thing as we did. far cheaper and you get to spend as long as you like at places - and go to there YOU want to. People of guied tours cannot get to climb the leaning tower, for example.

Believe us, all excursions are good for kids. I went with a 12 yr old and a 10 yr old. They can stay in the kids club if you want to go on your own, or if the kids don't fancy the trips. Wenever saw the kids once we got back on board as they made so many friends. The ship is fun and very safe.

Our children were 8 & 2 when we went last year to the water park at the rome stop. it was a great day! barcelona stadium was good if you enjoy football. went ashore in france and had a day on the beach, the ride across was quite exciting and there was a mcdonalds!

Excursions very nice - my husband and I opted for Milan as opposed to Genoa. Your son would probably be bored with the Tunis shopping trip.

Just back from OV2 2 week cruise. Our children 12 + 9 liked it best when we did our tours independently as they were bored with the organised ones. This is also very expensive for a family of 4 so research your trips and do them yourself. Agree with Clark family from Glasgow, the OV slogan should state the 'cruise for those who've not cruised before'.The ship is ok but the organisation is butlins at sea.

Whenever someone says they have seen a bad review on cruise critic I always tell them to take it with a pinch of salt as what one person loves another may hate. Some of us like marmite some of us don’t – I am firmly in the don’t category on this one. Some like watching soaps I certainly don’t. Some like going to the gym and I definitely don’t.Having looked through the reviews on our website I have found a 2* review and a 5* review for exactly the same ship on the ...

For those of you that know me or have read my blog in the past, you will know that each year my family and I like to head to the mountains for a ski holiday. This year things went astray when this happened. My son unfortunately smashed his fibula and tibia at the end of February and was put into a full length leg cast. We were obviously all a bit down. After several weeks of answering to Mummumcan I have.food/drink/entertainment etc etc etc I decided that we would all benefit from a holiday at...

Betsy Davies's blog

It’s been a long time since I told you what was happening in the world of Betsy. Well, I have been working hard as always since Christmas but I have just enjoyed my first bit of time off this year and I was so ready for a break !!!!I haven’t had the greatest of years so far, my husband was diagnosed with DVT’s in February and has been undergoing various specialist and hospital appointments as they were classed as unprovoked, no cause for them. On a recent test it showed a fr...
