When the flight gets cancelled!

You will all have seen the news over the weekend with the huge IT problems British Airways faced. This had a huge impact on people flying with numerous flights cancelled Saturday, Sunday and some on Monday also faced a knock on effect.

So what happens in this case when you have a flight booked and you are catching a cruise the same day?

It all depends how you have booked your fly cruise package. If everything is booked through the cruise line it is their responsibility to get you to the ship. Maybe the will book you with another airline to get you to the ship on time, it has been known they will fly you to the next port of call to join the ship. Whatever happens you will still have your holiday.

This also applies if you book one of our Tailor made cruise holidays. We will provide you with an ATOL Certificate and this means again that your full package is protected.

Now the only time this becomes a problem is when you have booked your cruise and flight separate. If this is the case it will be your responsibility to get to the ship so if your flight has been cancelled you will need to pay out to get on another flight to meet the ship. You might think this is covered by your credit card but be very careful as sometimes they may not cover you.

As a rule we always recommend a night or 2 before the cruise, this can take the stress and worry away if you do have any airport delays. Its also a nice idea to spend a bit of time in a city sightseeing before boarding your cruise. Why go all the way to Barcelona to not even see the place?!

Have you ever been caught up with cancelled flights? How did it affect your holiday plans?
