South African Adventures Part 1

I’ve just returned from two amazing weeks in South Africa and what can I say, other than Wow!! This place is fast becoming one of my favourite countries in the world!

We started our trip with fours nights in Johannesburg, admittedly there’s not much in the way of tourist things to do in Joburg but we were there for a wedding so had a great few days catching up with friends before the big day.

The wedding was held at a beautiful place called Waterfall Cove about half an hours drive from Joberg. The venue was very romantic with the service being held outside next to a waterfall. I loved the Sand Unity ceremony,  something I’ve never seen before and It was so much fun being a groomswoman. You get to do hair and make-up with the girls then drink beer with the guys helping them get ready!

It was quite emotional saying goodbye to my friend Graeme after the wedding but it’s great to know he’s in good hands with his lovely new bride Jess and I guess we did have to let them go on their honeymoon. So after waving them off, he headed to the airport and flew to Cape Town

We decided to split our time in Cape Town stay, so stayed  2 Nights in Bloubergstrand staying near Blouberg Beach, 2 Nights at Aquilla Game Reserve and 5 nights at the V&A Waterfront.

Everywhere we stayed we had brilliant accommodation. This was the guest house where we stayed at in Blouberg. The view of Table mountain we woke up to in the morning was something else and what a great balcony for some morning Yoga.

We loved the Blouberg area, it has a very a relaxed feel to it and not too touristy. We spent the morning at the beach. Then we noticed the clouds were lifting over the mountain so we decided to head up there for the afternoon.

I do like a trek but we decided on this occasion the cable car would an easier and more scenic way route.

The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking, you feel like you are on top of the world!

Be careful though as the weather can change quickly. One minute it’s glorious sunshine, then the next you are literally surrounded by clouds.

There’s a nice little sovereign shop and cafe at the top so we stopped to pick up a few things and have a bite to eat before heading back.

Once we reached the bottom we headed back to Blouberg beach to enjoy a couple of cocktails whilst watching the sunset. A perfect end to a wonderful day

Next time I’ll be writing about our stay at Aquilla Game Reserve.
