Don`t Forget To Pack The Straws !

I used to love packing for holidays but now it just seems to be more and more stressful. I am off on Celebrity Silhouette on a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords in September and I am already planning what to take with me.

The first cruise I ever went on was Fred Olsen Braemar departing from Southernmost which was great as there are no luggage restrictions, Silhouette is the same but actually I think that will make deciding what to take worse. Norway adds it own problems as who know what the weather will be like. Could be a heatwave or raining !

So where do I start ? Probably will get all the toiletries sorted first. I am travelling with my best girl friend so we will need to take plenty of lotions, potions and anything else we can think of as neither of us travel light! My hairdryer is a must as the sort usually found on cruise ships are a waste of time with my hair. Shoes next. Will need walking shoes, sandals in case it turns out to be hot and loads of shoes for evenings on board.

The average temperature in Norway in September is around 16 degrees and there can be as much as 14 days of rainfall so will have to take a waterproof jacket and probably an umbrella too! That`s a suitcase full already and I`ve not even started on stuff to wear in the evenings.

There is one other thing I am going  to pack and it is not something I would normally take on holiday, especially on a cruise – a straw! Yes a drinking straw! A cocktail without a straw is like strawberries without  cream, but if you cruise with Norwegian cruise lines you will now not get a straw in anyway way, shape or form. I know this is Celebrity I`m sailing with but who knows !

Straws are being  ditched in an effort to become more environmentally friendly but they have been replaced with nothing, you just get your cocktail in a glass. So off I will be going to my local pub and getting some of my own, made literally of straw and so very eco friendly ! Here they are ! Thanks Merlin, you are a magician!
