19 Top Tips To Look Like A Celebrity In All Your Cruise Photos

Have you ever noticed how celebrities always seem to look good in photos and wondered how you could look that good (not that we’re saying you don’t already!)

It’s rare for celebrities to be pictured looking anything other than fabulous (which is why the paparazzi are paid so much!)

Yet you don’t need their wardrobe or money!

You see everyone gets concerned about how they look in their holiday photos but you shouldn’t.

Looking good in photo’s isn’t just reserved for the likes of Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie; somehow always managing to look a million dollars in every swim suit picture in the press.

The truth is they’ve been coached in how to stand, where to look, what to wear, how to highlight their best attributes and also how to de-focus attention from areas they’d rather not highlight.

With that in mind we got our hands on an exclusive compilation of the very best tips and tricks the pro-photographers use so you can look your very best in your cruise photos, every time.

And we’re obviously going to share them all with you…

Stomach in and shoulders back is always a good start. It may feel awkward at the time but will ensure you’re on the right track. It’s also a good idea to have an idea of your best pose, don’t be embarrassed to practise in the mirror of your cabin in advance.

Smile as naturally as you can, even if you’re not as happy as you could be just at that moment. The best photos are made up of more than you; so an interesting background will frame the shot and anyway… why not show off to your friends on Facebook where you are and how lucky you are?

Never take just one photo! Take as many as you can. It’ll give you the greatest chance to ensure you have the exact photo you want to make your friends green with envy; every… single… time!

Also, don’t forget: If the photo is being taken by a cruise ship photographer and you’ll be paying for it then take your time. Do not be rushed as it’s their job to make you look good (they won’t get paid otherwise!)

If possible wear one colour from top to toe. It gives the illusion of a long, thin, line.

As tempting as it may be after a week or so of cruise line food don’t hide yourself in baggy clothes. It will always makes you look larger than you are.

Put some skin on show!  V-necklines are especially flattering, with the wider focal point being away from your mid-section.  Even wider v-necks can also help balance broader hips.

This one’s for the ladies… You can help elongate your legs and appear slimmer with nude, preferably high-heeled, classic shoes (or just stand on your toes… but make sure your feet are off camera if you do!)

A sweep of bronzer over cheekbones can slim your face in two seconds (another for the ladies or any especially brave men).

Always turn slightly sideways to the camera – not straight on or at 90 degrees. Looking at the camera straight on makes your face appear larger than it actually is (seems unfair doesn’t it!).

Cross your legs slightly, with one foot in front of the other.  This will help slim your thighs and hips.

Always point a toe to the camera and put your weight on your back foot.

Hold your arms just slightly away from your body which will stop upper arms appearing flabbier than they should.

To avoid double chins, stick your chin out and/or put your tongue on the roof of your mouth when smiling. Sound’s crazy? Try it! It really works!

Look up at the camera rather than down; it’ll elongate your neck (even if you need to get your cameraman standing on a stool!)

Avoid direct sunlight; you’ll squint which makes jawlines look fatter. Late afternoon or early evenings are the most flattering times for outdoor shots. (Obviously not an issue if you’re taking photos inside though).

A big handbag held in front of you can hide a multitude of sins!

Of course if you don’t want to have to rely on these tips and would prefer to drop a few pounds before your next cruise then you could always take a look at weight management specialists Martin and Marion Shirran’s new, must have book for cruisers titled ‘Cruise Yourself Slim’ available here.
