International sporting star and most decorated fútbol player in history, Lionel Messi, has been revealed as the official Icon, of the new Royal Caribbean ship Icon of the Seas!
As part of Messi’s new lofty status in the cruising world, he’ll be part of the new ship’s official debut and naming ceremony, scheduled to take place in January 2024, in Miami. Messi will have the honour of bestowing safekeeping onto the new ship, its crew and its anticipated millions of future guests.
The Messi announcement follows the recent revelation by Royal Caribbean that they have teamed up Inter Miami CF, in an unprecedented partnership, to be the club’s Main Partner and Official Vacation Partner. Royal Caribbean and Inter Miami CF are scheming to celebrate the arrival of Icon as part of the next phase of their partnership, details of which are due to be unveiled soon!

The first of Royal Caribbean’s extraordinary, larger-than-life, Icon Class, Icon of the Seas will be home to a whole host of epic family entertainment and fun, when she debuts early next year. Icon of the Seas, ideal for active families and avid adventurers, will have a whopping six record-setting waterslides, seven pools, the “neighbourhood” designed for young families, more than 40 ways to dine, drink and be entertained, and much much more!

After her naming ceremony and maiden voyage, Icon of the Seas is due to sail on a variety of blissful Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, including port calls at Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas – and at Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
