Cruises are renowned for hosting mesmerising, high-end theatrical productions, and the iconic cruise line Cunard is no different.
Guests travelling on Queen Mary 2 sailings between October and December 2022 will be treated to a range of new epic shows, as stars of stage and screen will be performing in West End extravaganzas, immersive theatre, and powerful productions as part of a dazzling programme of entertainment recently revealed by Cunard.
The productions will be staged on four, seven-night Eastbound and Westbound Transatlantic crossings.
Cunard is thrilled to offer our guests this exclusive at sea performance aboard our flagship Queen Mary 2 along with the opportunity to meet the show’s star-studded cast.
This ‘only on Cunard’ moment provides guests with carefully curated experiences and memories that last a lifetime.
Matt Gleaves, VP, Commercial – North America and Australasia for Cunard.
The first stellar production, Shackleton’s Carpenter, will be performed between the 7 and 14 October and tell the tale of a forgotten Scottish hero Harry McNish.
Midsomer Murders actor Malcolm Rennie will be performing in the special matinee. The play has been written by award-winning playwright Gail Louw.
From 18 to 25 October, the supernatural story Frogman will be performed in a ground-breaking live theatre experience, including virtual reality as part of the show.
Four matinee performances of Frogman will immerse audiences in this intense, coming-of-age thriller set around the Great Barrier Reef.
Pride and Prejudice fans will be swooning over Being Mr Wickham, a one-man show being staged across two matinees and one evening performance from 13 to 20 November.
The novel’s most roguish gentle, George Wickham will lift the lid on what happened to him thirty years later after the end of the literary classic.
Adrian Lukis will front the production, reprising his role after starring in the BBC television adaption of Pride of Prejudice.
Stars of Eastenders, Coronation Street, and The Parent Trap will be performing the last production in the Cunard entertainment line-up, in the feel-good comedy The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, presented in conjunction with Simon Friend Entertainment, between 15 and 22 December.
Set in Jaipur, India, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel follows a group of retired Brits. Their lives are intertwined when they collide at a luxury residence, which is far from the opulence they were promised.
Top acting talent who will be starring in the production on board includes Hayley Mills, star of the 1960 Disney classic Pollyanna and the original 1961 film The Parent Trap, the former pop singer turned musical theatre veteran who made a brief appearance in Eastenders from 2015 to 2016, Paul Nicholas, and Rula Lenska, who played the glamorous Claudia Colby for several years in Coronation Street.
Three matinee and evening performances will be shown on board, and guests will have an opportunity to attend workshops and Q&As with the cast.
I thought I’d done it all but performing on the Queen Mary 2 in the North Atlantic will be an incredibly exciting new adventure to me and for the whole company.
Hayley Mills.
Productions will be staged in the gorgeous Royal Court Theatre, one of many lavish venues on board the Queen Mary 2. The iconic vessel epitomises style and elegance everywhere on board, from its indulgent spa to plush restaurants and bars.
