Sip A Cocktail While Listening To Heavy Metal…

Every year the sea becomes host to thousands of metal heads from more than seventy different countries for what has become the largest heavy metal cruise in the world!

The 70,000 Tons of Metal festival metaphorically, and sometimes literally transforms one of the largest ships at sea into a giant 5-day mosh pit. But, this cruise is said to be more than drunk metalheads wandering around a cruise ship, it’s where people celebrate their love for heavy metal music, reconnect with old friends and make new ones.

The last 6 years have seen Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas host this fantastic event, but on January 30th 2023, for the first time ever, the 5-day event will be hosted on Royal Caribbean’s The Freedom of the Seas.

The 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise isn’t only jamming in international waters, the cruise also offers unrestricted access to over 120 live performances, all-day karaoke, the famous belly flop contest, and music workshops with your favourite artists and the regularly scheduled shore excursions with all of the bands.

“Is this your first cruise? You are in it for life now,” laughs one 70,000 Tons of Metal devotee. This is the sentiment of many patrons of the cruise, set as one of the biggest heavy metal events of the year the numbers are growing year on year.

This goes to show there really is a cruise for everyone out there – whether it be a heavy metal cruise or a chocolate-themed one!
