Silversea Cruises Announces Brand New Ship Set For 2020

Silversea Cruises have announced a brand new addition to their fleet for 2020, Silver Moon.

Silver Moon will be the sister ship to the Silver Muse, which set sail earlier this year. It is rumoured Silversea signed a contract worth €310 Million with the shipbuilder Fincantieri.

The 40,700gt ship will have a capacity of 596 passengers in all-veranda-suite accommodations.

There will be a few subtle differences between Silver Moon and Silver Muse, with Silversea chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio stating:

It will be substantially identical with a few tweaks here and there,” going on to say “It’s the first of three options we’re exercising.”

The newest ship will bring Silversea’s fleet to 10, which will mean the cruise line are just two away from their founder’s dream of a 12 ship fleet. From the chairman’s comments, it is clear to see that they have the option to reach that dream number.

It is clear that the successful reception received by the Silversea Muse, left the cruise line with no option but to exercise the option for another.

“Based on the high praise Silver Muse has earned with our guests, we are eager to build on our flagship’s success and move forward with a sister ship,” Lefebvre stated, “We pride ourselves on delivering an outstanding luxury cruise experience, and are delighted to partner once again with expert luxury shipbuilder Fincantieri as we continue to grow and evolve our fleet.”
