Seabourn Hijack Royal Caribbeans Flagship

Today cruise line operator Seabourn released the details of its two new, upcoming vessels. In a shock move the big surprise of the announcement was the name of one of the ships!

The Seabourn Encore will launch in late 2016, whilst the Seabourn Ovation will take to the seas in spring 2018. As we reported here though Royal Caribbean have only recently released the name of the newest ship in their Quantum class – Ovation of the Seas!

There must be a million things that you could name a new ship – Do you think Seabourn have deliberately stolen Royal Caribbeans name?

Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn, said both the Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Ovation will match the current fleet in terms of both vessel design and guest experience.

Both words, Encore and Ovation, pay tribute to the tremendous success and outstanding accomplishments our current ships have achieved. They are perfect names to celebrate Seabourn’s expanding fleet,” he commented.

Indeed, the award-winning luxury cruise liner has hailed the new vessels for expanding on what is already being offered by its Odyssey-class ships – the Seabourn Odyssey, the Seabourn Sojourn and the Seabourn Quest.

According to the firm, these vessels have “revolutionised ultra-luxury cruising” thanks to their “innovative amenities” and “enhanced accommodations”.

The upcoming additions to the fleet have been designed to maintain Seabourn’s high ratio of space per guest, as well as ensure a staff member is on hand to provide a highly personalised service to each individual passenger.

Both vessels will be able to carry 604 guests ( so will be considerably smaller than Royal Caribbeans Quantum class vessels at 4180 passengers!) , who will be treated to features including a private veranda on every suite, expanded public areas and design elements and innovations intended to convey “understated elegance”.

Details of where the Seabourn Encore and the Seabourn Ovation will be sailing to have not been confirmed yet but the cruise liner is well-known for sailing to what it describes as many of the most desirable destinations, including Unesco World Heritage Site and marquee cities.

Seabourn has brought in Adam D Tihany, a legend in the world of hospitality design, to create the interiors of the vessels, and he is channeling influences from the cruise line’s past and evoking its yachting heritage too.

Prospective passengers who want to find out more about the Seabourn Encore can access the dedicated microsite http://encore.seabourn.com right now.

The site offers regular news and updates on how construction is progressing, along with the vessel’s specifications and imagery.

Seabourn is a member of World’s Leading Cruise Lines and has won numerous accolades and awards to reinforce this status. For instance, it has been rated highly in well regarded travel publications including Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure in recent years.

The firm prides itself on offering stylish and distinctive cruising holidays, with unique itineraries that include trips to destinations that larger cruise ships cannot access.

This, it said, is underpinned with an “intuitive, gracious service” provided by crew members who are “passionate” about making their guests happy.

Seabourn also points out that its vessels boast many other qualities that set them apart from others. For instance, guests can take advantage of treats including complementary fine wines at meal times, while they be confident of a “relaxed, sociable atmosphere that makes guests feel right at home on board”.
