Royal Caribbeans – B.Y.O.B

Effective immediately Royal Caribbean has scrapped it’s policy of a $25 corkage fee to open your own bottle of wine in it’s restaurants.

Royal Caribbean were one of the first to allow cruisers to bring up to two bottles of wine on-board for personal consumption but still charged the corkage for anyone wishing to drink it in the main dining room.

The problem they faced was that it was reliant on your waiter charging the corkage fee to your account (and this wasn’t always done) leading to complaints that the system was unfair.

The move has been done very quietly with no official announcement from Royal Caribbean but has been confirmed on their Facebook page.
