Royal Caribbean is always pushing the limits when it comes to their ships. If they’re not building the largest ships at sea then they’re adding the most exciting activities onboard for guests to enjoy. This May we will see the launch of their brand new ship, Wonder of the Seas which will be the world’s biggest ship and will join the award-winning Oasis class. Now, you’d think that Royal Caribbean would maybe take a break after consistently bringing out even bigger ships than their last ones, but you would be wrong…
Royal Caribbean has just announced that in 2024 they will be debuting their brand new ship, their sixth Oasis-class ship, Utopia of the Seas! She will be even bigger than Wonder of the Seas and will be the largest cruise ship ever built.
When she sets sail she will carry just under 10,000 passengers and crew members. Not only that, Utopia of the Seas will the first Oasis-class ship to be lowered by LNG, the cleanest burning fossil fuel. She will be 362 metres long, with about 2,800 cabins. That is 50 fewer cabins because of the space that is needed to install the LNG tanks.
A steel cutting ceremony and name reveal in Saint-Nazaire, France, marked the official start of construction by cutting the first piece of steel. We are yet to find out any more details of their brand new vessel but we will be sure to let you know when we do!
