Quantum of the Seas staterooms include USB points

Royal Caribbean’s new cruise liner Quantum of the Seas features USB points in its staterooms so passengers can charge devices such as smartphones and tablets while they sleep.

The company stated that the addition is among a raft of technological upgrades it is making to the ship, which was unveiled for the first time earlier in the month in Germany.

As well as device-charging USB outlets, all staterooms on board Quantum of the Seas will have energy efficient and environmentally friendly lighting systems.

Everyone will get a room with a view too, as even inside staterooms are equipped with giant screens showing a view of the ocean.

Royal Caribbean said: “Interior accommodations are outfitted with Virtual Balconies that display real-time sights and sounds of the sea through 80-inch LED screens.”

The new liner’s homeport will be Shanghai (Baoshan), China, part of Royal Caribbean’s increased focus on the rapidly expanding Asian cruising market. But first, she will sail out of New York harbour from Cape Liberty for her inaugural season.
