New Star-Studded Culinary Experiences On Sun Princess

Princess Cruises is set to offer unrivalled culinary experiences from celebrated chefs and celebrity collaborators onboard its newest ship, Sun Princess.

The cruise line has revealed a line-up of exciting new dining experiences alongside ingredients sourced from high-end suppliers ahead of Sun Princess’ maiden voyage on 28th February 2024.

From authentic samples from sushi masters to afternoon tea with a royal chef, guests are set for a unique culinary journey onboard…

‘Spellbound’ by ‘Magic Castle’

Princess Cruises has revealed that Spellbound by Magic Castle will be the latest of the cruise line’s “Extraordinary Experiences”, following the success of 360: An Extraordinary Experience– a multi-sensory culinary journey which debuted in 2023 onboard Discovery and Enchanted Princess.

Blending the world of magic with the art of culinary and mixology, this will create an innovative and immersive dining experience steeped in magic and adventure.

Beginning in an exclusive area of the Horizons Dining Room, the evening will start with a delightful shared dinner before guests are escorted to the secluded Spellbound Bar, set behind a secret door where magic and mixology await. From here, Magic Castle magicians perform incredible illusions in themed rooms while theatrical cocktails are served by sleight-of-hand servers.

Guests onboard Sun Princess will have three chances to experience the magic per night, with slots at 5pm, 7pm, and 9pm at limited capacity (advanced bookings are required).

Sushi Master, Makoto Okuwa, At Kai Sushi

Guests eager to try something new onboard Sun Princess will savour Kai Sushi by Makoto Okuwa, who is reshaping traditional sushi with a creative approach. In this exclusive partnership, Chef Makoto Okuwa (Master of Edomae-style sushi) brings his 25 years of experience to the ship with a new concept crafting playful dishes paying tribute to Japanese traditions.

Makoto joins other celebrated collaborators with dining options for guests to enjoy onboard Sun Princess, including:

– “The Butcher’s Block by Dario” – World famous butcher, Dario Cecchini, grills up perfectly prepared beef and steak.

– “The Catch by Rudi” – A culinary odyssey and exceptional dinner concept created by renowned chef, Rudi Sodamin, showcasing the ocean’s treasures.

– “Love by Britto” – Offering exquisite cuisine against a backdrop of breathtaking views, curated by world-renowned artist Romero Britto.

– Good Spirits At Sea – destination inspired unique cocktails from celebrity mixologist, Rob Floyd.

Afternoon Tea With Royal Chef, Darren McGrady

Chef Darren McGrady leads a sophisticated Royal Afternoon Tea onboard Sun Princess in the Good Spirits At Sea Lounge. As personal chef to Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, plus Prince William and Harry, Chef McGrady will share his experiences and stories through visual media, interacting with guests while they enjoy tea alongside traditional scones, sandwiches, cookies, and pastries.

Tea pairings at this royal experience include Earl Grey and English Breakfast, along with more exotic varieties like Lapsang Souchong, Assam and Matcha. Guests can also request a glass of bubbles for an additional cost.

Royal Afternoon Tea will be offered on select Sun Princess sea days, and can be reserved in advance.

Wine Tasting With Gérard Bertrand

Known globally for his Cote des Rosés, award-winning rosé and several top-selling French wines, French winemaker Gérard Bertrand will host a special wine tasting designed especially for wine enthusiasts onboard Sun Princess.

Held in the Good Spirits At Sea Lounge, guests will be immersed in the flavours of bio-diverse wines, the landscape, and the stories of the region as Gérard and his team interact with them through visual media.

Guests can be a part of this special event by reserving ahead.

Inaugural Menus In Collaboration With The Culinary Institute Of America

Rudi Sodamin (Princess Head of Culinary Arts and Master Chef) has teamed up with the esteemed Culinary Institute of America (CIA) to craft brand-new menus for the Horizons Dining Room onboard Sun Princess’ inaugural Mediterranean season sailings.

Under the trusted supervision of Chef Rudi, a team of CIA master chefs will be onboard the ship training a group of 252 galley team members to serve up memorable dinner menu items to guests.

Guests sailing on the first three Sun Princess sailings can now book dining reservations in Horizons Dining Room, Sabatini’s, Crown Grill, Kai Sushi by Makoto, The Butcher’s Block by Dario, The Catch by Rudi, Umai Teppanyaki and Umai Hot Pot. Those sailing on other upcoming Sun Princess voyages will be able to book additional dining experiences in the coming weeks.
