The countdown has begun to MSC Meraviglia’s debut with just 3 days to go now until the ship’s christening.
The 5,714-passenger vessel will be christened in Le Havre, France on June 3rd 2017 as the first of eleven newbuilds set to come into service over the next ten years.
Meraviglia has been named as a next-generation ship and is spending her inaugural season in the Mediterranean with three homeports: Genoa, Barcelona and Marseille.
Guests can look forward to having access to 33,000sq metres of public space with onboard highlights including exclusive world-class entertainment; 12 distinct dining venues serving a rage of international dining options including five speciality restaurants and a Mediterranean-style promenade featuring multiple bars, restaurants and shops, as well as the longest LED Sky Screen at sea broadcasting atmospheric images and entertainment 24 hours a day.
The name Meraviglia means ‘a wonder’ in Italian and all decks of the ship are named after different wonders of the world, whilst there will be 15 public decks.
Newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to visit STX France in St Nazaire today for the handover ceremony of the ship after having a busy schedule meeting with world leaders including Donald Trump, Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin.
MSC’s 167,600gt newbuild is set to sail from St Nazaire Thursday, then heading for a Le Havre naming on Saturday evening in the presence of new French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, former mayor of the city, whilst celebrating its 500th anniversary this year.
