Spirit of Discovery

Spirit of Discovery launched in 2019 and is Saga’s first-ever purpose-built ship where every guest has their own private balcony! She has a boutique hotel feel and being a smaller ship, you’ll really get to experience the high levels of service Saga has to offer. Not only that, all your fine dining experiences are included in the price so make sure you treat yourself whilst onboard.

Dining venues

The Grand Dining Room – The ship’s main dining room offering British and International cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Grill –  A more casual dining setting offering the same food as The Grand Dining Room plus a breakfast buffet and a bespoke lunch menu. 

The Club By Jools Holland – An elegant steakhouse offering classic steaks from fillet and t-bone to ribeye, plus more unusual cuts such as tomahawk steaks.

East to West – Exclusively offering a dinner-only service, enjoy Eastern cuisine from classic favourites to more contemporary dishes. 

Coast to Coast – Tuck into British or locally sourced seafood with a modern twist.

Bar venues

The Club By Jools Holland – Music legend, Jools Holland is the patron of this 1950s style cabaret club where you can enjoy a cocktail and some live music. 

Britannia Lounge – This double-height venue is Saga’s signature bar which features a fully-glazed observation lounge for you to enjoy the views.

The Living Room – This is the perfect place to grab a coffee and pastry during the day and enjoy a drink and some light entertainment at night.

The South Cape Bar – Spirit of Discovery’s main bar offers a wide range of wine and beer as well as fine whiskies and an extensive list of gins to choose from.

Entertainment venues

The Playhouse – Saga’s first-ever theatre at sea showcasing West-End style shows, classical music performances, plays and revues.

The Club – Enjoy a 1950’s style cabaret with resident musicians playing until late

The Library – After a busy day, spend enjoy some peace and quiet in The Library enjoying one of the many books on offer

Craft Room – If you’re looking to escape, why not try the crafts room where you can join a class and learn a new skill such as jewellery making or papercraft? 

The Card Room – Join friends in The Card Room for a game of bridge or take part in an organised lesson or tournament. 

Wellness venues

The Spa – Relax and unwind in the onboard spa which includes six treatment rooms for you to really pamper yourself. 

The Salon – Treat yourself to a wide range of beauty treatments from hairdressing, manicures and pedicures, eyebrow and eyelash tinting as well as waxing. 

The Fitness Centre – A cutting edge gymnasium with a wide variety of exercise machines and classes such as yoga and pilates.

Spirit of Adventure

Debuted in July 2021, Spirit of Adventure is Saga’s second newest ship to enter the fleet. While she shares some similarities with her sister ship, Spirit of Discovery, she is unique in her own right with distinctive design features and characteristics.

She’ll bring that luxury boutique hotel feel to your cruise as well as a private balcony for every guest. Onboard you’ll also find a number of pieces of art including oil paintings, digital illustrations and hand-cast bronze sculptures from over 40 different artists. 

With Spirit of Adventure just launching, there are still details of the ship yet to be revealed, but here’s what we know so far…

Dining 

Khukuri House – The world’s first Nepalese restaurant at sea.Genuine tandoor ovens mean their chefs can create curried meat, fish and vegetable dishes along with authentic Nepalese flatbreads.

Amalfi –  Spirit of Adventure’s second specialty restaurant serving high-end Italian cuisine. Enjoy a selection of mediterranean dishes as well as daily specials including locally sourced fish and meat purchased in port that day. 

Supper Club – Combining International cuisine with a live entertainment venue. Expect relaxed dining throughout the evening, including live music.

Bars

Britannia Lounge – This double-height venue is Saga’s signature bar which features a fully-glazed observation lounge for you to enjoy the views.

Dress Codes

Nothing will be forced upon you onboard Saga, and that includes and strict dress code regulations. However, dressing up can really be part of the fun on your cruise so feel free to bring your finest wardrobe choices for the evenings!

You can generally expect one or two formal nights for every seven-night cruises so a glamorous long dress, tuxedo and bow tie go hand in hand with Saga’s elegant champagne dinners.

Although if formalwear isn’t your forte, know that a dark suit or dress will suit the night just fine. After all, your comfort comes first onboard Saga!

Casual and informal wear is just standard across the fleet, particularly in the daytime where your ultimate goal is relaxing and exploring.

Spirit of the Rhine

Inspired by Saga’s award-winning ocean cruises and launched in September 2021, Spirit of the Rhine brings their boutique cruise experience to the riverways of Europe. 

This new luxury ship is exclusively for Saga guests, and offers a wealth of exciting features, all backed by premium value for money. 

Every feature of Spirit of the Rhine has been individually designed for Saga guests. This includes a panoramic lounge and bar, an inviting library, fitness area, and an expansive, shaded sun deck with a hot tub and alfresco barbecue. All with levels of service that are second to none.

Dining

Chef-prepared cuisine is waiter-served in the main restaurant, offering a tempting choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plus, dine free of charge at the à la carte restaurant which seats 34 diners in a beautiful, intimate setting.

Cabins

All cabins are beautifully spacious, and with an average floor plan of 17 square metres, they’re some of the most generously-sized on the Rhine. Cabins on the Main and Upper decks all have French balconies with floor-to-ceiling picture windows, offering personal, private views of every destination.

Entertainment
