Meet The Fleet
Saga’s ocean fleet:
Saga Pearl II – Saga Sapphire – Spirit of Discovery – Spirit of Adventure
Saga Pearl II is about to embark on her final cruises before she retires in 2019.
Saga Sapphire will also be sailing its final season in 2019 and 2020. All cruises departing before February 2019 will include unlimited onboard drinks!
Spirit of Discovery will be the third ship in the fleet when it launches in June 2019 whilst Spirit of Adventure will be its sister ship and the fourth in the fleet once it debuts in summer 2020.
Both vessels will carry 1,000 passengers with all-balcony cabins and the intimacy that Saga cruises are known for.
Saga thrives off their ability to take you to lesser-known ports and out-of-the-way harbours with its smaller sized ocean vessels.
Witness Mother Nature at its finest at the Norwegian Fjords, the stunning scenes of British Isles and Ireland, the incredible cities across the Mediterranean, the cultural gems dotted across the Baltic, the natural wonders of Iceland and much more.
Saga’s river fleet:
Amadeus Royal – Douro Queen – Douro Serenity – Filia Rheni II – Johannes Brahms – Regina Rheni II – Rex Rheni
River ships will absolutely not limit where you can travel to with Saga; you’ll be taking in the world’s very best waterways.
Experience the surprisingly wonderful Danube, the charming Dutch and Belgian waterways, the historically splendid Elbe, the unique and vivid French waterways, the hidden gem that is the river Oder and so much more.
Is There a Typical Saga Passenger?
Saga ideally suits those who appreciate small-ship cruising with its intimacy and constant connection with the ocean and the river you are sailing through.
Its award-winning style comes down to first-class service, fine dining, top entertainment, opulent destinations and that ‘holiday of a lifetime’ feeling so many cruisers hope for when they book their perfect sailing.
A typical Saga traveller loves the whole package- one which starts not when you step onboard but one which starts from home.
The line’s chauffeur service removes any hassle, free-of-charge with the guarantee yourself and your bags will be taken care of and will arrive safe and sound at port and all the way to your cabin.
Atmosphere is something seriously important for Saga and they know the ship should be sparkling for you come nighttime.
Entertainment onboard will dazzle guests with the promise for some real individuality: from celebrity guests to singers, from bands to the ship’s own production company.
You’ll find a main show lounge on every Saga ship where a huge variety of entertainment is available day and night which includes classical recitals, guest speakers, cabaret shows and live bands.
If you fancy a laugh onboard, Cooper’s Bar is the comedy-themed venue onboard Saga Sapphire where you can head to for a pre-show drink before popping to the main show lounge next door.
Keep Saga Sapphire in your mind for the next cruise you book if entertainment is an important element of your holiday as the ship’s Drawing Room hosts an alternative entertainment programme and transforms into a jazz club too for some late-night club dancing.
One more thing that Saga values is variety, and it doesn’t stop at dining. Not to mention, your food will go from the market to your table in mere hours.
From world-class dishes of meat and fish to fine wines and irresistible desserts, Saga’s chefs are free to rein to shop, plan and prepare their own menus.
Saga are proud to only offer venues that are included in your price. No matter how extra special one eatery may seem from the other, there will be no surprise fees or unnecessary charges!
You’ll feel utterly flexible onboard the fleet with the option to reserve the same table throughout your whole cruise or even opt for open dining if that suits you better.
Don’t forget you can choose from afternoon teas, late-night buffets and private dining in your cabin too. Saga are as flexible as you need for whatever mood you’re in.
Nothing will be forced upon you onboard Saga, and that includes and strict dress code regulations. However, dressing up can really be part of the fun on your cruise so feel free to bring your finest wardrobe choices for the evenings!
You can generally expect one or two formal nights for every seven-night cruises so a glamorous long dress, tuxedo and bow tie go hand in hand with Saga’s elegant champagne dinners.
Although if formalwear isn’t your forte, know that a dark suit or dress will suit the night just fine. After all, your comfort comes first onboard Saga!
Casual and informal wear is just standard across the fleet, particularly in the daytime where your ultimate goal is relaxing and exploring.
Staff and Gratuities
One more thing that you absolutely do not have to worry about is the price of gratuities onboard Saga. Their focus is your convenience and ease from the point of booking your cruise to the point you arrive home, and isn’t it just so much easier when everything is already taken care of?
