Holland America began construction on their new ship, Niew Statendam, last year with the plan to debut December 2018.
The ship will offer a traditional cruising experience with hints of modern flair as it joins the line’s Pinnacle class and we’ve just received some new “artfully inspired” details.
The design is inspired by the fluid curves of musical instruments and will follow in the footsteps of it’s sister ship, Koningsdam.
Standout design features will include a skylight which will also serve as a backdrop for high-definition projections and a three-deck atrium with a musical instrument-like sculpture.
Nieuw Statendam will accomodate for 2,600 guests with Caribbean cruises from Fort Lauderdale during its maiden season, before heading to Europe for the summer in 2019.
Holland America Line president, Orlando Ashford, commented “Like its sister-ship Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam is all about fine details and thoughtful touches throughout the ship that create an ambiance of both elegance and style.
From the public areas to the staterooms, Nieuq Statendam is going to be stunning and very popular with guests.
Nieuw Statendam will join our fleet in just over four months and guests are excitedly reserving their place to sail on this beautiful new ship in its premier season.”
Passengers will be able to dine in her innovative specialty restaurants; from the Grand Dutch Cafe to the Sel de Mer, a seafood brasserie-style restaurant that debuted on Koningsdam.
Onboard activities will include Explorations Central, offering local insights and cultural encounters that make your journey more engaging and meaningful.
America’s Test Kitchen will offer live cooking shows and hands-on workshops that passengers can get stuck into and for an additional cost, you’ll be able to truly relax in the Greenhouse Spa & Salon with massages and various other treats.
What do you think of Nieuw Statendam? Will this be a ship that you will be sailing on after its launch? Do you think the ship will be too similar to its sister Koningsdam? Leave us your comments below!
