We like to know every little detail about what these new ships are all about including the restaurants onboard, how the cabins will look and even what new features we can expect to experience. So after the recent launch of Silversea’s brand new ship, Silver Moon, we wanted to gather up all the information we could find and share it with you to give the full picture of what this ship is really all about.

Introduction

Sister ship of the beautiful Silver Muse, Silver Moon is Silversea’s second newest ship to join the fleet and mirrors a lot of the key features you will find on Silver Muse. At 40,700 gross tons and with a capacity to accommodate 596 passengers on board, Silver Moon maintains the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodation which are the hallmarks of the Silversea experience.

What did our consultants think?

Trevor Smith – Specialist Cruise Consultant

At the start of September, we sent Trevor and Shaun onboard Silversea’s Silver Moon to get the real experience of what it’s really like to sail with this ultra-luxury cruise line. So here is Trevor’s feedback on his trip on board this brand new ship.

“In such a chaotic time the whole process was smooth and simple. On arrival into Crete we were met by a Silversea arranged taxi that first took us to a chemist in the port that was waiting for us to do a lateral flow test. 20 minutes later the test came back negative and we continued to the port for check-in. This was done at the side of the ship and was assisted by Silversea staff, waiting for us with refreshments and iced flannels.”

” My top tip for check-in is to read thoroughly before departure the check-in policy for your cruise line, the countries entrance protocols and to have all your paperwork completed at home before jetting off. Onboard the ship was a strict but relaxed ‘Mask at all times’ policy in public areas whilst walking around, in bars, restaurants but pool areas etc masks were not required.”

“The ship staff were very quick to keep the ship tidy and there was never a glass or plate left sitting on a table. Toilets were spotless all the time, every time I went to the toilet it was like I was the first person in there since it had been checked, cleaned and restocked. As expected the bar staff and waiters remembered you and your favourite drink. The DJ in the lounge was a young energetic guy that loved to take requests.”

“Dining was definitely my highlight of the trip. I made the most of the caviar on tap. I had it twice with room service, as a starter one evening and as a side snack whilst sunbathing by the pool. Lobster found its way onto my plate most nights, including nights when I was eating from a different menu.”

“My food requests were never a problem for the waiters and chefs of Silversea. The best part was the choice of dining options every day, day or night and without having to pre-reserve a reservation. My dining top tip…not sure what to choose from on the menu? Then choose everything you want!”

“Onboard the lateral flow tests were simple and well organised, with senior staff members checking you in off the register and a medical team on hand to do the swab. It was a very efficient process.”
