What is Black Friday?
Black Friday is a name that has been given to the day after Thanks Giving in America where retailers offer big discounts on their products ahead of the Christmas period. This tradition has now gone global!
The name originally came from the sheer volume of people causing chaos on the roads and in stores. Apparently police used the phrase in order to describe the busy roads and areas outside shops during this period. As the day provides people with great discounts, the negative connotations related to the day have now faded away.
When is Black Friday?
Black Friday is usually the last Friday of November each year so this year that will fall on 29th November 2019. Up until recent years, this was the only day you were able to get special offers but in more recent years, retailers have extended sale periods so be prepared for deals to be released earlier and earlier each year. Plus, don’t forget about Cyber Monday. This is the Monday that follows Black Friday where retailers release even more special offers for you to get your hands on.
