Epic entertainment coming to Norwegian Cruises in 2015

Epic entertainment coming to Norwegian Cruises in 2015

We know and love Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) for the smashing entertainment that it puts on, but hold your horses – it’s going to get even better in 2015.

The Norwegian Epic, which will be based in Barcelona throughout the year, is going to feature two Broadway shows as its principal entertainment for passengers.

Ballroom Blitz will make the headlines from April next year as cruisers will be treated to a theatrical experience that will leave them on the edge of their seats. There’ll be a live band, two singers and 14 dancers, with stunning choreography that will amaze and impress the audience. It’s being billed as an “ultimate high-voltage theatrical dance experience” and it’s bound to be the perfect way to end a day on the Norwegian Epic.

As you’d expect from the name, you’ll see waltzes, tangos and rumbas performed with so much European flair that they’d receive four 10s from the Strictly Come Dancing panel.

From October, Priscilla Queen of the Desert will make its way onto the vessel and it promises to be a heart-warming and humorous production. Featuring three drag queens who hop on board a bus in the Australian outback in search of love and friendship, this musical takes quite the turn when our main characters discover more than they could hope for.

This production is full of glitz and glamour, with more than 500 costumes, 200 head-dresses and some household tunes that you’ll find yourself singing for the rest of the cruise, such as I Will Survive and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

What’s more, the legendary home of The Beatles is being recreated, meaning you don’t have to go to Liverpool to witness some history in action.

The Cavern Club, which is where the four-piece band started out, is working in partnership with NCL to recreate this experience on board the Epic.

This means passengers get to enjoy the atmosphere and buzz of what is seen to be the birthplace of modern music – and rock to some of The Beatles’ best loved hits and other tunes.

From October 11th next year, the Cavern Club will be a reality on the Norwegian Epic, so make sure you know every word of the Liverpool band’s vast repertoire.

NCL president and chief operating officer Drew Masden said: “We are excited to bring Norwegian Epic to Europe year-round and want to provide our guests with even more exciting entertainment options on the ship that first elevated the onboard entertainment experience.

“These new world-class entertainment offerings, along with Norwegian Epic’s innovative accommodations and plethora of dining options, are the perfect combination for the European cruise market and give guests the freedom and flexibility to customise their vacation.”

NCL is renowned for the time and money it puts into its vast entertainment programme, with bars, lounges and casinos to name just three ways you can spend your evening in style.
