Disney To Kick Kids Off Ship For Wine-And-Dine Sailings

It has just been revealed that 2018 will be the second year Disney Cruise Lines introduce adult-only river sailings.

Adventures by Disney began with seven voyages in 2016 on the Danube. It plans 14 voyages across the Danube and the Rhine this year and 14 more planned voyages in 2018.

For 2018, we looked to find exciting new ways to make our incredibly popular river cruises even more enticing to every type of traveller,” senior vice president of Adventures by Disney, Ken Potrock, stated in a press release.

An Oktoberfest sailing will be a first for Adventures by Disney, departing September 30th and will include themed parties and culinary treats based around the beer-centric celebration. This will be adults only, also like the two Rhine River culinary cruises.

For its third year on the Danube, there are eight planned sailings that pass through Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary from June-August: an adults-only Oktoberfest-themed sailing and one holiday voyage in December.

A holiday-themed sailing will leave on December 23rd which will visit Christmas markets including Salzburgand Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna.

Danube voyages are on board the AmaViola, which debuted in 2016 while Rhine River voyages are on the new AmaKristina.

Pot rock furthered: “By increasing the number of special themed sailings along the Rhine and Danube rivers we now offer more choices than ever for our guests.

‘Whether you’re looking to explore the storybook setting of Beauty and the Beast, wine and dine on local specialties during interactive epicurean workshops, stroll charming european Christmas Markets or celebrate during rousing Oktoberfest festivities, Adventures by Disney has carefully crafted personalized vacation experiences to suit your interests and tastes.”

Whilst children from the age of four years old are allowed on all but the adults-only sailings, the recommended minimum age is 8 years old. The 2018 sailings opened to the public for booking on March 2nd.

The 170-passenger ships sail with eight adventure guides, all part of the effort by Adventures by Disney to offer as many activities to as many people as possible.

The river cruises are part of the expanded guided travel offerings from Adventures by Disney, which is entering its 11th year of business. It now offers more than 30 itineraries, mostly land-based adventures, across six continents.
