Disney Announce New Cruise With No Kids Allowed!

‘For 2017 we dreamt even bigger’ said Adventures by Disney after adding an adults-only, food-and-wine themed cruise along the Rhine River.

The 8-day cruise will depart from Basel, Switzerland, on October 21st 2017 and sail through Switzerland, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

Ken Potrock, senior vice president of Adventure by Disney, said: ‘We’ve had an incredibly successful season of European river cruise vacations. By adding this new food and wine themed sailing we’re able to give our adult guests an even more customized way to travel with us’.

On the cruise, passengers will learn about wines during vineyard tours and onboard seminars; they will also engage in culinary demonstrations and workshops with John State, Disneyland’s culinary director. The sailing will also coincide with a stretch of the annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

The cruise will include a gastronomic walking tour of Riquewihr, France; local beer and wine pairings and a French patisserie class in Strasbuourg, France; visits to German vineyards and pubs; and a tour of the Heineken factory and a waffle demonstration in Amsterdam.

Disney’s river cruise partner is AmaWaterway’s, so those who book the cruise will be aboard the 158 passenger AmaKristina, a ship being custom-built by AmaWaterways for Disney that will be christened next year.

‘AmaWaterways is thrilled to expand our relationship with Adventures by Disney and present additional options for family and adult travellers that are looking for a unique way to explore Europe’ said co-owner and executive vice president of AmaWaterway’s, Kristin Karst.

‘October is also a fascinating time to cruise, as fall colours appear and the vineyards turn brilliant shades of yellow, orange and red. The food and wine sailing will truly be a magical experience for all’.

Rhine cruise is the latest expansion of Adventures by Disney’s river cruise programme, which launched this year as a family focused product. Disney has scheduled 15 sailings on the Danube and Rhine rivers for 2017.
