Princess Cruises has revealed an array of coronation-themed events and entertainment to take place onboard UK-based ships, Sky Princess and Regal Princess.
The host of activities will help Princess guests to celebrate the crowning of King Charles III next month in true British fashion, with entertainment centred around King Charles’ ascension to the throne. Guests will be encouraged to don red, white and blue clothing, and the Piazza onboard both ships will be appropriately decorated using themed banners and bunting in Royal colours.
On 6th May, guests onboard Sky Princess and Regal Princess will be able to view live coverage of ‘The Coronation Service at Westminster’ and ‘The Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle’, which will both be shown on the 300-square-foot ‘Movies Under the Stars’ screen. ‘The Biggest Street Party’ will also be replicated on the top deck of both ships.
True to British tradition, there will be plenty of themed refreshments to get tastebuds tingling across the day. On both ships, a ‘Royal Afternoon Tea’ will be elegantly served- complete with classic treats like Victoria sponge cake!
On the top deck, guests can fill their boots with a delightful glass of Pimms, accompanied by fresh strawberries. Other British culinary favourites, including fish and chips, sausage rolls, and trifle, will be available in World Fresh Marketplace.
Not only will there be an abundance of classic food and drink onboard, guests will be treated to talks from guest speaker, Grant Harrold; former butler of the King. As well as being a former member of the British Royal Household, Harrold is a leading etiquette expert, royal commentator and broadcaster.
These talks will take place onboard Regal Princess between 3rd and 5th of May, and between 6th and 13th May onboard Sky Princess.
As part of Regal Princess’ itinerary around the British Isles, the ship will call at Holyhead in Wales on 6th May, allowing guests to experience the event in a region of the UK which has strong ties with the King himself.
On Sky Princess, there will also be huge celebrations with an exclusive array of Coronation-themed entertainment. This will include a special ‘Royal Variety Show’ performed in the Princess Theatre, featuring a spectacular tribute to Elton John. Guests can also enjoy a spot of ‘Royal Trivia’ in ‘Princess Live!’.
