Celebrity Reveals Dining Secret For Next Ship, Celebrity Edge

Celebrity Reveals Dining Secret For Next Ship, Celebrity Edge

Celebrity Cruises has just made an exclusive announcement for their next ship to launch, Celebrity Edge.

A restaurant cantilevered 16 decks above the ocean and a 3D animated table-top chef character “preparing” guests’ meals will be among the culinary options onboard.

Edge, due to debut in November, will see the line partner with TableMation Studios and Skullmapping to offer “an immersive fusion of technology, animation and dining” with its Le Petit Chef concept, an animated character who appears on guests’ plates and prepares courses “before their eyes”.

The ship class will have more dining and bar options than ever featured before.

Vice-president and managing director UK, Ireland and Asia, Celebrity Cruises, Jo Rzymowska, said: “We are known for our incredible culinary offering and have taken inspiration from every corner of the world to create an unparalleled and revolutionary experience for our guests.”

Main Dining

Celebrity has redesigned the main dining experience on Edge to include four complimentary restaurants.

Each restaurant will have a distinctive design and ambience inspired by a specific region of the world. These will include signature dishes which change nightly along with a selection of dishes that “showcase their inspirations”.

Together, the four main dining menus offer Celebrity Cruises’ largest ever selection of dishes, plus regionally-inspired wines, cocktails and dishes served nowhere else on-board.

Tuscan Restaurant is in honour to Celebrity’s much-loved Tuscan Grille; guests will be able to choose from Italian-inspired dishes, including freshly made pastas.

Normandie Restaurant is described as a “conceptual cousin” of the line’s French restaurant, Murano, and will be offering French delicacies.

Cyprus Restaurant is a nod to the Mediterranean and Celebrity’s Greek heritage, designed by Patricia Urquiola.

Cosmopolitan Restaurant will feature new American cuisine at Cosmopolitan, which is already offered on all existing ships in the fleet.

Other complimentary dining offerings will include the Oceanview Cafe, the Mast Grill, plus new offerings like Grand Plaza Cafe, The Spa Cafe and Juice Bar, and Eden Cafe.

Speciality Restaurant

Fine Cut Steakhouse will offer an “upscale dining experience” for dinner.

Rooftop Garden Grill will offer guests the chance to try “backyard barbeque”.

Eden Restaurant, revealed last year, features a lively, open air kitchen and menus. where “sensory and experiential offerings” will be served by performers known as Edenists.

Raw on 5 offers is described as offering a blend of St Tropez and New England seafood.

When the cantilevered Magic Carpet platform lines up with it, it will become al fresco.

Traditional Dining & Select Dining Plus

With Celebrity’s Traditional Dining, guests get to choose early or late seating which allows them to dine at the same table with the same waiter every evening.

Guests will be assigned to one of the four main restaurants, but can experience the others upon request.

The line has renamed its Select Dining programme for Celebrity Edge as Celebrity Cruises Select Dining Plus, which now allows guests to dine when and where they’d like to each evening.

Exclusive Dining, Bars & Lounges

Suite Class guests will have access to a private restaurant, Luminae at The Retreat, designed by Kelly Hoppen: “an evolution of the highest-rated restaurant in the Celebrity fleet”.

AquaClass guests will continue to have access to Blu, a spa-inspired restaurant, and the 11 bars will also include the popular Martini Bar and the previously revealed Eden Bar.

The wine list on Edge will expand from roughly 350 to 500 in total, including wines from destinations like Israel, Turkey, and China and India.

President and chief executive, Celebrity Cruises, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo added: “Once again, Celebrity Edge is solidifying, amplifying and adding a superlative on our award-winning culinary experience, allowing our guests to explore the world without ever leaving their table.

“From the amazing destinations we visit globally, to the local ingredients sourced to satisfy the visionary recipes created by our Michelin-starred chef, Cornelius Gallagher, we aim to open up the world to guests through our culinary offering.”

Celebrity Edge will spend its inaugural season sailing alternating seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, before taking guests to the Mediterranean with a range of seven to 11-night sailings from cities including Barcelona and Rome in 2019.

Edge will homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and make its first sailing on November 21st 2018.
