Carnival Cruises has just revealed that Carnival Victory will undergo an almost $200 million makeover, emerging under the name Carnival Radiance.
In 2020, the vessel will go through a 38-day refurbishment in Cadiz, Spain, making it the third ship in the fleet to undergo such a massive refurb.
Carnival Destiny’s $155 million overhaul assigned it the new name of Carnival Sunshine in 2013 and Carnival Triumph will be transformed into Carnival Sunrise in March 2019.
Carnival Victory’s refurb will take place from March 18th to April 26th 2020 and will result in several stateroom enhancements, new speciality dining venues, and a ropes course and waterpark.
“We’re adding the spaces that guests really love,” Carnival Chief Operations Officer Gus Antorcha said.
“Every ship, every itinerary, every port will have these spaces.”
Outdoors with Carnival
Carnival Radiance will boast some of the cruise line’s most popular outdoor attractions:
WaterWorks
The ship’s waterpark includes 203-foot-long AquaTunnel slide, their signature 212-foot-long Twister waterslide and a 75-gallon PowerDrencher tipping bucket, aswell as a kids area.
SportSquare
Carnival’s deck area features a suspended ropes course, basketball court, jogging track, ping pong, foosball, pool tables and nine-hole miniature golf course.
Serenity Retreat
This is the ship’s adult-only oasis for a break from the kids, offering plush chaise lounges, whirlpools and oversized umbrellas.
Dining & Drinking
Carnival Radiance will feature four specialty restaurants, a redesigned Lido buffet, two new bars and a dedicated Chef’s Table space.
The following venues already onboard will still be available: Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, RedFrog Rum Bar, BlueIguana Tequila Bar and Alchemy Bar.
Here is a brief run-down of just a few diners to look froward to being onboard Carnival Radiance:
Cucina del Capitano: this is the pasta bar where you pick your own ingredients for free but there is also Italian favorites at dinner for $15 per person.
Bonsai Sushi: head here for Asian cuisine. There will be an array of a la carte sushi, sashimi and rolls on offer, as well as a hot menu.
The Chef’s Table: Carnival’s exclusive multi-course meal will take place in a dedicated glass-enclosed space.
Cherry on Top: the ultimate sweets shop at sea where you can pick candy by the scoop as well as fancy gifts.
Piano Bar 88: Carnival’s popular piano bar has a twist that makes the night seriously memorable with themed nights and new decor.
And The Rest
Guests can expect Carnival Radiance to feature a Cloud 9 Spa with more space for a thermal suite, more treatment rooms.
There will also be a healthy selection of cardio and weight-training equipment for any passengers craving the gym.
Carnival will deploy its Next Gen connectivity system onboard to ensure faster, more reliable Wi-Fi.
Itineraries for the Carnival Radiance will be announced in mid-November 2018 and the launch of the refurbished ship will be treated as that of a new vessel, with a godmother and inauguration.
Antorcha commented: “The extent of the work really merits renaming the ship. This will feel like a new ship.”
