Carnival Expected to Order More New Ships

Carnival could soon be placing an order for more new ships, with one analyst suggesting that they will be adding one or two new vessels to their fleet in 2017.

According to Robin Farley, of UBS Investment Research, the ships will most likely be for Carnival brands Princess Cruises and Costa Cruises.

USA Today reports that the analyst, in a note to investors, predicted each of the vessels would have a capacity of approximately 3,600 passengers.

Most recently, Princess has revealed its Regal Princess in Europe, which has a capacity of 3,560, while Costa Diadema, due in November, will be able to carry 3,724 passengers.

While these two brands have no further ships on order currently, others owned by Carnival do, including Holland America Line, Seabourn and Carnival Cruises. They will each be taking delivery of a new ship in 2016.
