Cunard‘s new spa concept will be called Mareel Wellness and Beauty and will be onboard the newly refurbished Queen Elizabeth.
Passengers onboard the QE will be the first to see Cunard’s new spa before it is also launched on Queen Victoria later this month, and on Queen Mary 2 in November 2020.
Mareel means ‘phosphoresence on the ocean’ with the name coming from an Old Norse word ‘marueldr’.
It combines marr, meaning sea, with eldr, meaning fire.
The spas launched by US wellness specialist Canyon Ranch will include:
-New couples suite for seaweed bathing rituals
-A meditation room
-Treatments featuring seawater and marine-based experiences.
Guests will also be able to enjoy Queen Elizabeth’s refurb with updates on most public areas, all Grill Suites and Britannia Staterooms with new carpets and soft furnishings.
The Royal Court Theatre has also been overhauled and several public rooms, bars and lounges have new carpets.
Wellbeing is key to life, and feeling relaxed in mind and body is an important part of any holiday.”
Queen Elizabeth will set sail on January 3rd from Southampton to Australia via Cape Town, South Africa.
The ship will be based in Australia until March 30th 2019, then depart for Tokyo for two voyages.
On May 5th, it will start a transpacific voyage to relocate to Alaska for a maiden season until June 30th, before heading back to Southampton via the Panama Canal.
