Princess Ship Based In Tokyo During Olympics Undergoes Multi-Million Pound Refit

Princess Cruises’ 2,670-guest ship, Diamond Princess, has just received a multi-million pound two-week refit. The ship will be based in Japan throughout 2019-2020, including during the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games- with roundtrip departures from Tokyo and Kobe sailing to 50 destinations in 11 countries. One of the largest travel agents in Japan, JTB Corporation, is chartering Sun Princess to be used as a floating hotel during the 2020 Olympic & Paralympic Games. In the port of Yokohama, the Princess vessel will be berthed at Yamashita pier from July 23rd to August 10th 2020. Real estate analysts predict a shortage of about 3,500 hotel rooms by the time the Olympics take place.
