Carnival Cruises just revealed the first exclusive look at Mardi Gras, the line’s most innovative ship arriving in 2020.
The vessel will offer an extensive array of Carnival guest favourites and new experiences, highlighted by six themed zones.
It will be the first cruise ship in North America powered by LNG and will offer 20 decks.
Each of the distinctive areas will boast fun and memorable ways to create a personalised holiday with options for dining, drinking, entertainment, recreation and relaxation.

The accommodation onboard Mardi Gras will include more than 20 different stateroom categories and multiple levels of spacious and luxurious suites.
Guests will also find the most expansive open decks on any Carnival ship and a spectacular atrium that will be the hub of the ship, as well as a stunning focal point to welcome guests.
It was back in December last year that the line revealed they would be reviving the name Mardi Gras from their very first ship back in 1972 in the form of a new addition to the fleet.
They announced this on the popular gameshow ‘Wheel of Fortune’…
We're throwing it back to the beginning and are excited to introduce you to the new Mardi Gras! It's bigger. It's innovative. It's coming in 2020. Thanks for having us @WheelofFortune! #ChooseFun #CarnivalMardiGras https://t.co/z8uirq865q pic.twitter.com/gvoS5d1SaY

“When our guests Choose Fun and book a holiday on Mardi Gras, they are going to find many firsts and exciting experiences, all enhanced by the fun atmosphere our great Carnival crew deliver on every cruise,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
“We’ve specifically designed Mardi Gras to invite everyone to create their own personalised fun holiday experience with options to suit every age, mood or taste.”
The Famous Six Zones
A stroll through the ship will help guests to discover new features and signature elements amidst a festive, social and community-driven atmosphere where it is important to relax, recharge and reconnect with family and friends.
The six areas onboard will be themed around Grand Central, French Quarter, La Piazza, Summer Landing, Lido and The Ultimate Playground:
-Grand Central (Decks 6-8, mid-ship)
Guests will be in awe the moment they step on board with the transformative Grand Central, taking the traditional atrium concept to new heights.
Day-to-night entertainment will be combined with spectacular three-deck-high floor-to-ceiling windows and a bar overlooking the starboard side of the ship.
It will be the perfect venue for socialising and people-watching with sweeping ocean vistas.
Only a few steps away will be Bonsai Sushi and Bonsai Teppanyaki which are being expanded from designs on existing ships to reflect their popularity with guests.
Guests will also see the first-ever dedicated Punchliner Comedy Club with its nightly shows, and the ever popular Piano Bar 88 for sing-a-longs.
-French Quarter (Deck 6, aft)
In a nod to the New Orleans’ culture that combines lively entertainment with an unparalleled food scene, this onboard area will be scattered with new bars, music and eateries.
Guests can expect the ultimate festive spirit of the Big Easy and since the spirit of New Orleans is so closely tied to the jazz scene, French Quarter is linked via a two-deck-high promenade.
It will lead to a traditional New Orleans jazz club with live entertainment and refreshing hand-crafted beverages.
-La Piazza (Deck 8, mid-ship)
From the casual family-styled Cucina del Capitano and 24/7 Pizzeria del Capitano to a new Mediterranean-themed seafood restaurant.
There will also a bar where guests can chill with a cappuccino or opt for classic Italian cocktails at night, and there will always be roaming musicians to add to the atmosphere.
-Summer Landing (Deck 8, aft)
This neighbourhood has been designed as the ultimate chill spot as an expanded Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse.
Guests can expect smoked-on-board barbecue favourites created by longtime Carnival partner Guy Fieri, along with the line’s exclusive ParchedPig craft beers brewed right on board.
There will be an outdoor summer vibe with a pool and whirlpools, a new bar, the lunch counter for the Smokehouse Brewhouse along with ample lounging spaces and hang outs.
-Lido (Deck 16-17, aft)
Carnival is already known for its varied casual poolside restaurants and Mardi Gras’ expanded Lido will take this to a whole new level.
It won’t disappoint with existing favourites such as Guy’s Burger Joint, the New England-inspired Seafood Shack, and BlueIguana Cantina Mexican eatery.
There are due to be new concepts announced at a later date that will excite and surprise foodie fans.
-The Ultimate Playground (Decks 18-20, aft)
This neighbourhood will span decks 18-20 with amazing sea vistas and a spacious family-friendly play area, highlighted by the largest and most elaborate Carnival WaterWorks aqua park in the fleet.
There will also be an expanded SportSquare and the much-anticipated BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster.
This is the first rollercoaster at sea where riders race along an 800-foot-long track, hitting speeds of nearly 40 miles per hour.
Mardi Gras will also incorporate all of the line’s most popular signature features from its nearly completed $2 billion fleet enhancement programme.
Carnival fans can now excitedly wait for additional information on Mardi Gras to appear, along with specifics on each of the six themed areas.
Reservations for Mardi Gras’ itineraries will be announced and open for sale on January 30th 2019.
