Our BIG Day

So, after hours, days, weeks and months of hard work, our big day has finally come on gone and what a day we had. I quite honestly could not have thought in a million years it would have run as smoothly as it did. We were out working in the garden until midnight the night before the wedding, with the finishing touches being applied by the bridesmaids and our amazing neighbours in the morning as I had been banished to my best man’s and was reluctantly having a fry up before getting ourselves suited and booted.

The church was packed to the rafters and I think even the reverend was blown away by the volume of the hymn, everyone was in great spirits. There were a few fantastic surprises on the day with the Mother in law sorting out an Austin Martin to take my wife to the church, and even more incredibly she arranged Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists the DMU Gospel Choir to perform at our reception, in our blinking garden! It was so special.

After the ceremony, me and Mrs S walked back from the church so she could place her bouquet on her late aunt’s grave. The church is only around the corner from our house so it only took us 5 minutes to get a drink in hand! We walked through into our garden to see the place packed with all of our closest friends and family and had the most incredible day.

9 days now into married life and things are still going perfectly, although the garden has been neglected. That has had enough attention in the last few months. The cleanup operation was like nothing I have ever seen. There were bottles, cans, shoes, sunglasses, pizza boxes and empty glasses everywhere, a full-on war zone. The in-laws turned up in force and we spent hours out there sorting through the piles into recycling and general rubbish. We lit the BBQ and worked our way through the leftover drinks and had another great day.
