A lovely weekend giving my Mother away.

This weekend I had the honour of giving my Mother away at her lovely wedding to her long-suffering partner of over 10 years. They had a lovely small ceremony with just over 20 of us in attendance with the majority being made up of their children and grandchildren with myself being given the responsibility of giving her away and my youngest daughter as the only bridesmaid, very cute.

It all started very smoothly with my soon to be wife visiting her make up lady to get her makeup done whilst I ironed the various bit of my suit so we all looked the part. A fairly uneventful 90-minute journey to my Mum’s house where things were a little more chaotic. My 2 younger brothers that had stayed over the night before and had a little shindig to celebrate Mum’s last night of freedom, and ended up having a VERY late night.

The weather up to this point looked very promising, which as you all know, it has been awful all week! This all changed about 10 minutes before we were due to leave for the registry office when the heavens opening! Hopefully, this was not a sign. once we got in from the rain and dried off as best we could my youngest daughter had a bit of a wobble as she was too scared to walk in from of us into the room, so she went in with the registrar and took her seat early.

There were no objections and they are now husband and wife!!

We then went on to a lovely place called the Fuzzy Duck in Nuneaton and had a lovely buffet, plenty of drinks and a boogie. My Mother had given me a little more than 24 hours notice that she wanted me to make a speech, which went surprisingly well given the lack of time.

One lesson learnt from the day and night – I cannot keep pace with a 20-year-old any more!!
