One word WOW for the MSC Bellissima

I have just returned from the Maiden Voyage on the MSC Bellissima. If I had to describe it in one word it would be WOW!

WOW Good or WOW Bad?

The Ship – Good Or Bad?

On first sight this ship is stunning, and most definitely had the Wow Factor. As soon as we set foot on the ship you were hit by how ‘showbiz’ the ship is. Lots of mirrors, lots of sparkles, bold colours basically everything I love! First impression… the prettiest ship I have seen in ‘real life’.

The ship offers many different restaurants, including several specialty restaurants. These are extra and can be quite expensive, but if you are celebrating then I dare say worth the extra. I have heard rave reviews so far on the Teppanyaki Restaurant and the Butcher Cut Steakhouse.

You will also find many different bars all offering something different, for the night owls you have a night club. If you want to join in with the entertainment team, try the Bellissima lounge. Or if you prefer to just sit and relax with a book then you have that choice too. I found that there is something to suit all needs.

The cabins – Good or Bad?

I was keen to see my cabin, sadly the cabin didn’t match the public areas. The deco was very dark – olive green and just didn’t have the appeal as the public areas. Also, the pictures on the walls were just strange! The cabin was spacious I had a B1 grade on deck 8 midship. Great position approx. 5 cabins down from the lift. Once in the cabin, I literally heard no noise, very sound proof.  Bathroom was a good size, beds comfy, large sofa, okay sized balcony there wasn’t a lot of wardrobe space or a bin in the bathroom which was unusual. Overall, I would say the cabins were Good.

*The new cabin feature, ZOE a digital assistant! Another gimmick that just isn’t required in my option.

Main Dining – Good or Bad?

We were allocated a dining time of 1830 on deck 6 in the Il Ciliegio restaurant.  This is the formal dining area, you will be allocated a set time. I would have chosen a later time as I did feel rushed to get ready every night. I could have asked to change it but we kept with it. The restaurant was nice. The staffed lined up to welcome you, all saying welcome. Which made me feel like the queen, to be honest, I hated it! We were allocated a table for 2 but it was inches away from the next table, so it was like we were sat together. We had a lovely couple, so we were fine and enjoyed getting to know them each evening. The staff were great, it was the maiden voyage, so the first couple of evenings was a little rusty. The food wasn’t amazing; however, the head waiter came to check how everything was. He took everything that was said onboard and after that the food, the service was second to none, so well done MSC. Our waiters were brilliant, always topping our glasses up and/or checking everything was okay. Food portions were slightly on the smaller side and not quite as much choice as some other cruise lines. It didn’t matter though because the food was lovely, and I always fancied something on the menu. If you have any dietary request, please make the staff aware. If you do not like what is on the menu they will try their best to come up with something. Overall the main dining gets a GOOD – My waistline also second that!!

Entertainment – Good or Bad?

I was dubious about what the entertainment was going to be, I had heard lots of good and lots of bad. The choice of shows were varied not always to my taste, we had a choice of two music shows – Pink – Great songs by a woman throughout the decades and Rock show both of these were BRILLIANT, Great singers, fab dancers, and amazing staging. The other shows throughout the week were not really my cup of tea. The entertainment with MSC is very visual to cater to all the nationalities, a bit different to what I am used to.

The entertainment team that was mainly based in the Bellisiima lounge on deck 6 were great, very hard working and relentless to get you up to dance!

Here they would do daily activities like little sporting games, dance classes and party time. It was quite samey and having more choice would have suited the British market a little more. Having said that, the dance floor was always full and many many people were eager to take part.

On an evening depending on the theme the entertainment team would dress up, get you up for a dance and make sure everyone was having an amazing time and for the most part, they succeeded.

Entertainment – Good & Bad

Overall I would give the MSC BELLISSIMA – A great big thumbs up, so much so I am going to book for my husband and I 🙂
