A Right Royal Princess!

So after my stay in Dublin for the night, myself & my colleague Nicola boarded Royal Princess for a 2 night stay to experience the ship.

We were very lucky with the weather as it was beautiful sunshine and very warm.  After a lovely breakfast at Jury’s Hotel we went for a little wander round the shops for a bit then headed back to the hotel as we had booked a taxi to take us to the port.  You can walk it in around 15/20 minutes but not ideal in warm weather and with suitcases too.

We were so excited to get on board.  Even after years of cruising I still get excited about getting onboard a ship and don’t think that feeling will ever go away, as Nicola called it ‘The Christmas Face’ – love it….

There were 2 ships in port – Royal Princess and MSC Meraviglia so was lovely to see as a new ship for MSC.

We met the rest of the group and our Princess Cruises hosts and boarded the ship approx 2pm. We had free time to look around the ship after a brief meeting to cover the itinerary for the couple of days.

I was wowed straight away when we got onboard, she was stunning and so glamorous & bright. We found our cabin which was forward on Baja Deck with a balcony, it was lovely.  Quite spacious and very clean and the beds were really comfortable.  I loved the walk in wardrobe, lots of storage space.

We headed off for a wander to look at this beautiful ship, Royal Princess has an airy, open feel to it.  The staff were extremely helpful and polite.  I loved the central atrium, just stunning.  The picture doesn’t do it justice.

There is a walking/running track for those who like to keep fit and a few obstacles you can try out along the way,  as I go to the gym now I had a little go…

After a little ship tour we headed back to the cabin to get ready for the welcome cocktail party with the rest of the group,  I love meeting new people and think we made some friends for life, the whole group got on so well and it was all great fun as well as learning all about Royal Princess.

I did actually use the gym on board the ship on day 2 as were docked in Belfast and as we only had a couple of days on board we stayed on to use the facilities on the ship, the gym was very well equipped (now I know what to do) so spent about half an hour in here and just to prove it…….

I also used the pool & the jacuzzi which was lovely as the weather was so nice.  Nicola didn’t have her swimsuit so I took one for the team. I’m a real water baby anyway so this was fabulous.

We checked out the casino which was quite big and has the usual gaming tables & bandits, I’m not a casino person really but took a little photo.

If you watched the TV programme ‘The Cruise’ all about this ship then you’ll know who this is, Timothy is lovely and happy to chat with you if he has time as always busy.

A few more pictures of the ship.

I will cover the food in my next blog – it was awesome, so come back for that one……….

I would definitely travel on Royal Princess as she is a stunning ship. Maybe for my holiday next year but she is in Alaska – oh well I haven’t been there yet!
