Amazing Australia!! Ava’s Country Information!

In October 2016 I went on a Cruise from Asia to Australia and in this blog, I am going to take about the places I visited whilst in Australia and I have got to say that I loved Australia. If you haven’t been I would definitely recommend going, and a Cruise is a perfect way to see different places across Australia.

Darwin

So, Darwin was our first port of call in Australia and I was so excited to step onto the dock, being in Australia felt surreal but awesome. For this port, we had decided to do the jumping crocodile tour which was fun and we got some great shots of the crocodiles in the air. However, we had booked this through Royal Caribbean and it was very expensive and we could’ve got a taxi and paid for our tickets on the gate for much less. Once we were on the boat on the river this didn’t matter so much as it was a great experience and again…..we couldn’t believe that we were in Australia.

Cairns

In Cairns, we decided to book a trip onboard to Green Island to visit the Great Barrier Reef. And OH MY GOD what an experience. The island was beautiful and we even got to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef. The whole day was so surreal, I’ve seen the Great Barrier Reef on TV but nothing prepares you for how amazing it is in real life. We also did a little glass bottom boat trip in which we saw some amazing marine life.

Airlie Beach

From here you can fly over the Great Barrier Reef and get some amazing photo’s from up above. We also went into the local town and there was a big market on with a live band playing, which was really fun.

Brisbane

Just off the coast of Brisbane, there is a gorgeous island called Tangalooma. Here’s a fun fact about Tangalooma; the film Scooby Doo – Spooky Island was filmed there. I heard about this island from a customer back when I worked at Thomson so once I had booked my Cruise I know I had to visit it and I was so glad we went. Whilst there we went sea kayaking which was great fun and the views from the kayak to the shore were amazing. If your Cruise starts or finishes in Brisbane you can also arrange to stay on the island and at night you can even feed the wild dolphins that swim into shore.

Sydney

There are so many sights to see in and around Sydney. Here are just a few that I managed to see.

Sydney Harbour Bridge – Just to be in Sydney and see the famous sights is incredible but I wish I had done the Bridge Climb. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time but I recommend making time whilst you’re there….as long as you’re not too afraid of heights that is.

Sydney Opera House – Right in Circular Quay, the Sydney Opera House is a must-see.

Harbour Boat Trip & Fort Denison – We got as yellow boat taxi to tour the harbor and we circled around Fort Denison which is a small island in Darling harbour. Back in the 1700’s, it was used as a prison, then in the 1800’s it became a military fortress and it is now a tourist attraction for all to see on the harbour tours.

Royal Botanic Gardens – The Botanic Gardens are right near Circular Quay and span across 74 acres. It’s a lovely place to walk through and sit down to have a picnic.

Wollongong – In Wollongong my friend Emily and I completed a skydive which was an incredible experience. I wrote a blog all about the skydive, you can check it out here.

I definitely recommend a Cruise to Australia and we arrange some amazing packages with hotel stay pre and ost Cruise. You can get some inspiration here.
